Can any body tell me the best way to score a texas scramble (ie how to apply the handcaps)and so on

Normal format is 1/10th of the combined handicaps.
i.e. if you have the following handicaps 6, 11, 18 & 22 the total is 57 so the handicap for that team would be 5.7
You score the round as a Gross Medal then simply deduct the handicap for the final Medal Score.
Texas Scramble is great fun!

Duncan - Morgan is exactly right re: scoring. Usually a "number of drives per person" is also included and a stroke allowance for ladies (to play off the men's card) if your looking at mixed scramble teams.

Thanks Bob. I forgot to mention drives. Depending how competitive you want to make it then 3 or 4 drives per player. 4 drives makes it more interesting as you have to think more about using up everyones allocation and means you don't necessarily take the best drive everytime.

Have played it before but have not oganised it 

I am having two novalty holes i.e on one par 4 only a 5 iron to be used, and on another everybody drives with a small driver 

I will be appling the scoring you mentioned
