Hi.

Now that summer's here (I hope) I was wondering whether there was anyone near Bracknell who fancied playing after work some evenings. I can get to local courses for a 17:00 tee time which should be enough for 18 holes at this time of year.

I could book up a tee time somewhere and post it as a game on this site, but I haven't been too successful doing that in the past so was looking to see what interest there is. If there are any like-minded players out there I could at least discuss times/locations to see what options would interest.

Please feel free to let me know if you're interested and I can get something booked.

Hi Nev, sorry to butt in but this overlaps a proposal we've been considering for some time.

Is there interest in a 'Noticeboard' type approach to tying up games on a more flexible basis?

So rather than taking pot luck on the Forums you would have a specific area of the system where you could post a notice (like Nev's done) saying your available Date, Time, Location plus a Free format Message. This would then be automatically notified to everyone in the area (as per what happens when a game is 'Posted') but also shown on a 'Game Possibility Noticeboard' (exactly as per the existing 'Games List')

Would that 'half-way house', more flexible approach to tying up a game be of interest?

Hi.

Your proposal would be a great idea in my eyes. I think it's tough to guess what dates/times/courses might be right for everyone, but once you're reasonably sure that there's at least two of you in agreement you can then post a game in the normal fashion to see if anyone else wants to join in.

We got around the problem a little differently when Carol set up a 'Last Minute Golfers (Kent)' group. In the group we can send messages asking if there is a game on when you suddenly find yourself free on a specific date/time.

But this other solution would be good (like Nev said) for the situation where you're more flexible and so want to agree a course/date/time with at least one other person before posting a game to see if you then get a 4-ball.
