I am looking to purchase an electric trolley and have been looking at the Powakaddy Freeway 2 range in particular.

Has anyone got any words of wisdom on the practicalities i.e battery life span and the likes on these or other makes of trolley?

I play on average one round a week, but am looking too try and increases this to maybe a two or three a week next year.

Finally I have seen the Lithium battery range and was wondering if this was the “future” of electric trolleys and if so would it be worth while waiting till next year and maybe pick up this years model for a few quid cheaper?

Anyway any help would be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards

My advice would be to get a GoKart www.gokart.co.uk.

It looks a little different but is a fantastic trolley for the price. The company was set up by ex-Powakaddy employees and the customer service is second to none (a 30 day no quibble money back guarantee and a loan trolley if yours ever needs repairing for example). Powakaddy customer service is reputedly appalling by comparison.

My son has a GoKart, as do two friends I recommended them too. I don't know about the Freeway 2 but I have a Freeway. It's bigger (when folded), slower and heavier than the GoKart . When I replace it, it will be with a GoKart.

The standard 18 hole battery on both the PK and the GK will easily do 27 holes. In fact my son's GK once did over 40 holes without recharging. The only advantage to having a lithium battery on a golf trolley I can see would be if you struggle to lift a lead one.

Colin,

Just had a quick look at the website and in terms of price it looks pretty good especially when you consider the PowaKaddy Freeway starts at around £300.00

I am not to sure about the styling of the GoKart and have a big problem with buying things without seeing them first hand.

I know they offer a no quibble money back guarantee, but I am always wary of this type of statement as I feel there is always a catch!!!!

Got to admit i really like the look of the FM Lithium but cannot justify the price.

Kind Regards

Hi Dale I have had a Hill Billy of over 10 years using it on an average of twice a week,in that time I have only had two things go wrong one was the switch, and the other the battery need replacing. so if you are looking for reliability look no further, Service I understand from friends that have had to use it is second to none, ie trolley collected repaired and returned in 48 hours. I understand that they now have a battery that will do 36 holes, and have on occasions done 27 with mine Roger

I have owned 3 Powakaddy's and the only problem I have with them is the stability of the golf bag on the frame, always twisting and coming off, mind you I use the PING Tour bag.

The only bag that will stop on correctly because it has a specific groove on the bottom of the bag, is the Powakaddy make, other than bag issue to be aware of, I would reccomend.

I have used the Go Kart before (Hired) and found it very good, my son is after a Powakaddy so will be giving him mine and I am purchasing a Go Kart Trolley as price is good and after having e mailed them (Go Kart) they assure me no problems with bag twisting off, also gave me a 28 day return if I dont like it, they will collect, what do I have to lose.

Powakaddy Classic (the old style) - you can't beat them. You can pick up a good one on eBay with batteries for under £100 - and it will run forever.

Hi I am also going to buy an electric trolley next year (at my club a powercaddy can be included in fees) so have one this year. I have looked at the motocaddy as i like the fact that you can download course details to the electric trolley which gives distances front middle back of green etc. That will save me messing about with my bushnell rangefinder. Anyone used this technology on a power trolley?

Don't buy a Powa Caddy they do go wrong and are almostnon-repairable.
If you are only going to play 18 holes a time you only need a smallish battery that recharges quickly.
Enjoy it no matter which you buy, but buy what you can afford.

Hi Dale. How's it going mate?

I'm buying a Go-Kart at the end of September (a birthday present to myself!) so you are welcome to have a look at it 'in the flesh' and then decide for yourself what to go for.

How about hooking up soon for a game?

Cheers mate.
