Hi, most people i play golf with use the sky caddie (not sure which version) and that allows them to download most courses at home and abroad. I personally use a range finder but appreciate that it takes more work to get bunker distance from tee etc but its quick and easy when you are looking to attack the pin. I'm sure there will be other people who use GPS systems will give pros and cons for you. Steve

I have the Snooper Syrius Proline 2000. It's a SatNav for the car but comes with a built in golf GPS. So not only can it direct you to the course but once there it will give you all the information you require. All the courses can be downloaded for free and the system will hold as many courses as you want, I've got about forty on mine at the moment. If they don't have a course you want you can e-mail them with the details and they will get it on the system. The only downside I can see is that it's not waterproof so if it rains I have to put a towel around it and the battery only lasts for one round. Less than one round if you use it excessively, like if you were giving distances to everyone in a fourball then you would probably only get to the 16th hole! Russ

After recently playing a round with a guy who had a skycaddie, I must admit I was very impressed with what I saw, I was even Hinting to the wife about having one as a crimbo present, now I know the skycaddies seem to be the most expensive but I just can't justify splashing out £200 + on a golf gadget which I have done alright without one so far, so having an i-phone they do a golf app by golfshot for £17.99 with no subscription or annual fees, brilliant, this is a great app that seems to do everything u want for a fraction of the price, however only downside is that it eats the battery very quick and just manages to do 18 holes.
