I've had R580 Taylormade fairway woods for several years now and I think it's time for a change. I tried a Srixon 5 wood the other day and did like the heavy feeling to the head of the club (my Taylormade woods are quite 'light' on the head). Unfortunately the Srixon I tried was also probably 4 years old so, Srixon being a golf club manufacturer like all other golf club manufacturers, the club I tried has probably been replaced about 8 times by now. Does anyone have any other suggestions about clubs I should try to get a swing at (I hear Mizuno also have a 'heavy' club head)?

Hi Pete, Just purchased a 3 & 5 Adams Golf fairway woods from Direct Golf (UK) at Swanmead, Tonbridge. Good deal at £250 the pair with quality head covers thrown in free. Tried Nike & Callaway at the range but Adams were far away the best of the three. Hope you can make Crowboro' Beacon - game has been posted.

Bob, I've never heard of Adams Golf, but the price sounds good. Do they have the 'heavier' feel to the head ie like the Srixon?

Pete - when I tried them on the range at Swanmead they "dropped" into place on the down swing. Just felt very comfortable and the large clubhead looks very forgiving. I'm playing Wrotham for the first time as a member tomorrow so I'll let you know how I get on with the new clubs. I went to Direct Golf (UK) with every intention of buying a 3 & 5 FW from Nike - Adams are endorsed by Bernhard Langer & Tom Watson (couple of useful players there). Never would of thought of trying Adams clubs until they suggested to me that they (Adams) are the best keep secret in hybrid/fairway woods.

Funnily enough having never heard of Adams Golf someone else mentioned them yesterday. I'll definitely have a look at them. Thanks for the tip.

I've just updated my fairway woods and was looking at the Ping G10 range Taylor Made Burners, but I went and hit quite a few different makes and was suprised that the ones I got on with the best were the most recent Benross range (VeloCT.) They come with Grafalloy shafts and golf pride grips and the quality makes a mockery of the price (around £60-70 a shot!) The three wood has a relatively small head and is great off the deck (when I make contact!) but I was suprised at how well it performed off the tee. I wouldn't say the head was heavy but it is a very nicely balanced club. Overall, I love it, and I know that if the driver's not workng I can pull out the 3 and still get some solid yardage and it hits very straight. I guess that because Benross don't have any tour staff they don't get a lot of exposure, but I think they are very underated clubs and perform way above their price range.

Ollyp, I certainly like the price (the Srixon woods I've been looking at are £179 each and I've decided I want a 3, 5 & 7 !!) I've checked with my local driving range and they stock Srixon, Mizuno (another recommendation) and Ben Ross so quite a result. I'll get myself down there next week and make myself popular by asking to try them all... Thanks for all your advice.
