i like to play various clubs but i can honestly say that more pro shops than not are not the most friendliest, they either seem misrable or just very bored, you are only in there a couple of minutes paying your green fee and some of them look like they just dont want to be there even when you throw in a bit of banter! - i do use a lot of 2-1 vouchers and i know although some clubs advertise in accepting them they dont really like taking them.

any comments would be appreciated or perhaps its just me.

Worse one I have come across to date - cottesmore golf course pro shop, first visit was booked for 8 of us via open fairways on a friday, openfairways deals was 2-4-1, checked cottesmore web site for the greenfees, which are shown as midweek and weekend.
collected "midweek" green fee price from all and went to pro shop, to be told that friday is a weekend price, when I asked him how friday was classed as part of the weekend, all the reply was "since cottesmore decided it was", so I pointed out that the website makes no mention of friday being a weekend rate. all the reply was the site clearly shows midweek and weekend rates.

second visit, I pre-booked one of their "GPS" fitted buggies, the cost £25.  On the day I paid the fee and was given the key for my buggy, only to find that the GPS did not work. on going to back to the shop, the reply "its tough luck, some work some don't, we have been having problems with the supplier".

certainly won't be rushing back for a third visit, shame as it is a nice course.

I feel the same as you most pro shop are so unhelpful and some down right rude, and you are made to feel that you should be there at all,As for Marks comments, I was there on both occasions and its the worst pro shop by far that I have ever come across. The very best pro shop I have come across is Cooden Beach, They are always ready to help you out, order any thing that you might need. even give the odd tip or too. Last week the belt clip broke on my sky caddie went down to see the pro to get them to order me one,What did he do took the one off their demo model and gave it to me no charge how about that for service

thanks for the replys, it isnt just me then, recently I played reigate hill golf club, now ive played reigate a lot and the pro shop is one of the friendliest, however last time i played i booked my tee time and when i turned up was was told that my name hadn't been booked, when told the club pro that i knew it had been booked because i was told that if i play after 2pm i won't need to use my 2-1 voucher and my tee time was booked for 2.02 and i only know this because it was him who told be this when i booked, then his phone went and i was left standing there for a good 5 mins while he booked a society in, after his phone call i was then told i cant play at 2.02 because the owners wife was playing at 2.02, was told this about 5 times.

dont worry about me im only a customer, wouldn't want to upset the owners wife.

did tee off after the owners wife group and they did let us through....

Totally agree with this statement......I played with a group of TSG golfers at Bletchingley last weekend and despite checking with Openfairways (and having played the course only 4 weeks earlier) I was told my card would only cover two of us. The Openfairways site clearly states 4! Alas, whilst I was happy to except that this might be the fault of Openfairways, the attitute I received from the young guy behind the counter was 'tough!' Shame, as I had nothing but great things to say about the course and the staff on my TSG course review.

However, clearly this is what the world web web was invented for, so whilst they may gain in the short term, long term they will suffer. I am happy to give them the beneift of the doubt for now but I agree customer service is something all golf clubs could improve on!

I am awaiting clarification from Openfairways on the matter - will keep you all posted.

The worst is when you turn up with about 11 other golfers and they still act as if you are there biggest hassle of the day.  Don't they know the clubs need golfers to play so they can pay these guys their wages?  Maybe they save their friendly-face for the members?

I'm not even going to talk about the rates on their sites and what they charge you when you get there. 2-4-1 always seem to be one that only gets accepted when the clubs are in need of a bit of cash.
