I was reading an interview with the CEO of Titliest about improvements in balls, clubs, everything and the changes being made to golf courses to compensate (matched clubs and reduced spin balls meaning for the pro there shouldn't be a hook or slice - see http://www.golfobserver.com/blog/blognews/buzz/2009/09/29/wallypart1 ) and then it goes on about yet more changes to the golf equipment ( V shaped grooves etc). Does anyone know when the changes to clubs is coming in and whether it will be like the change to the drivers a couple of years ago which meant that on a given date my TaylorMade R7 Driver was illegal in club competitions? Anyone know anything?

Hi Pete, From my understanding V groves are out for the Pros from 2010. For us amateurs I believe we do not need to change our clubs until sometime after 2020!!!

Ah, restricting the Pros I can easily live with, and I'll have changed my clubs before 2020 (or given up!)

never mind the clubs shorter courses would help me, at Hilton Head played Shipyard from 7400 yards, on some holes I needed a Taxi, my 5 wood was crying it was being used that much, nothing more off putting than constantly hitting your sunday best off the tee the still seeing the 150 marker in front of you in the distance on a par 4. Socially you can ofcourse move up tees but why in most amateur comps do we suddenly feel the need to be Tiger.
