As an "active member" of the site I would really like the opportunity to meet up with other people who I only know by name at present - £60 is too much for me to play a "non name" course though. A shame.

£60 is a very fair price for the golf day at Hever, the fee for our society day is £55 and is being held the day prior. As for it being on "non name" course, What excatly is a "name" course !!! there are hundreds of courses around the country which charge a similar fee just to play 18 holes and would not come up to the standard of Hever, it is an excellent and difficult course. I took a friend there yesterday, he is a member at Rye, and has played with me at ChartHills, The London Club (Heritage), both course at East Sussex,Royal St Georges to "Name" a few. When we played they had just top dressed the greens and he can't wait to return, I can't remember how many times he said "I can't understand why I have not played it before, its fantastic". Roger, believe me just because in your eyes it is not a "name" does not mean it is not worth the money, take up there 2-4-1 offer - £39.50 green fee so £19.75 each and you will be surprised at this "non name". -- 21/10/2009 23:10:23: post edited by mark rowley.

I would agree with my name sake about cost, but Hever is a really nice course and would rate it along side a lot of so call named course's that I have played. I played their 2 weeks ago and it was in super condition the greens were very quick but running true. A part from the cost, I think it is a great choice of course so well done TSG. I assume some of the cost is going towards the prize's, as I have a booking there the day before for a full English breakfast and lunch for just £55 so if anyone wants a practice round join our game -- 21/10/2009 22:45:28: post edited by roger akerman.

Hever's one of my favourite courses so probably a bit biased but my two-peneth-worth would be: Yep you can play this superb course using the OpenFairways card (and I do) to get a 2-for-1 price (so down to £20 each) BUT (and I don't understand why because you're bringing them even more golfers) when you try to book as a society they charge £60 on a Friday (they do throw in coffee, bacon roll and a light lunch). And, £60 seems pretty good to me for a pucker competition with chance of winning lots of prizes, a trophy and a two week holiday (I did say chance of winning, but someone's got to come good on the day...) bacon roll and coffee plus lots of banter and a bite to eat afterwards. What's not to like?

PROFUSE APOLOGIES TO ALL, Bit of a cock up but the 'Game Notification Email' included HTML which (on most email clients eg AOL) comes out like gobbledy-gook. So, if you were one of the unfortunates who got an unreadable email - sooooooorry, but the proper game detail can be viewed at: http://www.thesocialgolfer.com/viewevent.aspx?id=1151

It has been pointed out that we have discriminated against some of our Members. The restriction on higher handicap, but still competitive, Ladies was an error. The competition should have been restricted to CONGU recognised maximum handicaps ie 28 for men and 36 for ladies. The game detail will be changed to rectify the error. Ladies, I apology.

Why have no ladies signed up to the event? Do they not like the competition format or something?

Think you need to apologise Pete, Mayte has signed up to the event and unless there is a mistake on the profle she is leading the way for the ladies. perhaps we should send an invite for the St Pierre game !

Ooops, yes, the picture is a bit of a give away, Mayte is definitely a lady. Sorry! And yes, Mayte, if you've got your passport to allow you to cross the border between Scotland and England (that should stir things up nicely...) then the TSG Challenge at St Pierre, Chester in March should be fun.

Am sure the event will get supported Ian, still 6 months away so people may not be willing to commit just yet. Can TSG not advertise the Tournament on the Home page, maybe in place of "OpenFairways" or in the recent member images slot ?

Mark, you must be a mind reader... We are in the process of replacing the Open Fairways banner with a promotional image for the TSG Open Championship. And, also as you say, we don't see a problem filling the event - It is still 6 months away, TSG has 4,000+ UK Members (all obviously keen golfers!) and here we have our first ever TSG Open Championship being played on a fantastic course (a personal favourite), with some great prizes on offer (including a 2 week holiday in a private villa in Orlando) and it's only £60. Sign up soon or risk seriously missing out. -- 30/10/2009 17:43:56: post edited by TheSocialGolfer.
