Is it not time that the "Golfing Bodies" start to come down hard on the poor behaviour being shown by some of the top players. After seeing Rory McIlroy smash his club through an advertising hoarding in the final round of The Race to Dubia, can they not use a system like football and issue Red or Yellow cards. A red card resulting in for example the player being banned from a ranking tournament, or if that is on the harsh side why not that they begin the next ranking tournament with a number of shots penalty, say +6 for red and +3 for yellow. Maybe Rory will get a fine for this behaviour but what is the loss of a few £, when you are earning millions. These incidents seem to be on the rise, in the last couple of years Tiger has been getting worse with the swearing and slamming of clubs.

Firstly, most professional golfers have enough money to keep them happy for the rest of their lives.

Secondly, due to them all being sponsored by golf equipment companies they don't even have to pay for their equipment.  They just let them know that they need and hey presto a new one appears.

So as Mark said, fining them is a complete waste of time.

The only way things will get better is for each professional who commits an infringement to miss the next tournament, harsh maybe, especially if you are a spectator and was looking forward to watching a certain player.

I can understand the point about starting with a number of shots added to your score but to be honest, I cannot see the golf authorities, or even the players standing for this.

It is wrong for the professionals to swear or abuse equipment after hitting a bad shot.
