I have been using my Ping G5 irons and have been quite happy with the results. I tried the new Ping G15 irons and they had a nice feel about them, I also tried them on the range too - results were good. I am aware that new clubs have a "honeymooon" period. Should I change them or spend the money on lessons. Your thoughts... (Handicap 19) trying to get better. Many thanks

Hi David, I was once asked by a pro why I wanted to change my clubs ,I told him that I wanted to improve my game, to which he replied new clubs wont make much difference you golfers are all the same willing to spend £300 to £400 on clubs in hope that they will make a difference, spend half that sort of money on lessons and I guarantee to make a difference, and he was right. So my advice would be have lesson and I am sure you will be reducing your handicap

The G5's are not that old a club, so buying the new G15's would not make that much of a difference to your game. Half the cost of a new set spent instead on lessons would benefit your game more, then in a couple of years you may wish to invest in a newer set of clubs.

A couple of questions need to be asked.
Firstly, were your Ping G5 irons fitted or bought off the shelf. If not not fitted go back and get them fitted . If fitted and you are happy the old saying comes to mind, IF IT AINT BROKEN , IT DONT NEED FIXING
       happy xmas to all

Hi Guys, many thanks for your comments so far. It has given me something to think about for sure. My G5 pings were not custom fitted so I will explore that. Just to re-assure everyone I am not naive to think a new club or clubs will sort a poor swing or set up...if only. New to the forum and I do appreciate all comments so far. Keep them coming, many thanks
