Hi all,
what with all this mardy weather, and the effect it has on golf courses, how long before the courses open again. Currently play a downland course in sussex, which has seen some heavy snow today and cant see the course being playable for some time yet. There must be a recovery time for the greens. Just wondered if any of you knew how long.

The snow won't worry the greens, it's the freezing of the ground that will cause problems.

As long as the snow thaws gradually and it doesn't freeze, then once the drainage has taken care of any surface water the greens should be fine.

Looking at the weather forecast for the next week it does appear like now would be a good time to get onto the driving range and sort out your driving.

We on the east coast, USA are feeling the effects of the cold weather. Temp. this morning was 23 degrees. Wind chill was 10 degrees. 8:00 tee times are going off at 11:00 due to the frost. Locals are'nt playing, only people that are playing are our friends from Canada, who are here for the winter. Oh well, here's to the warm weather that will be here eventually. Good luck, Jeff.

It's times like these I'm happy I bought that golf course condo in Las Vegas!  I'm outta here on Jan. 25 for 2 1/2 weeks of golf in the desert sunshine ... daytime highs around 17C this month.  Maybe next year I'll try to spend the whole month of January there ... Viva Las Vegas!!
