Just to throw a question out to you all concerning monthly fees taken by golf clubs. I am a member at the Stapleford Abbotts golf course and as far as I know both courses will be unplayable due to the current weather, now I know they can not control the weather but in other sports if you buy a ticket to play or attend they either refund your payment or defer it to when the game can take place. Should this be the same for golf ?

hear hear ... maybe all the crown courses should be the first to start this system after all they are the biggest course operator ... milford has been closed on and off for 2 weeks ... i would think in the long run it would build on their good name and bring them in more business

I'm also a member at Stapleford Abbotts GC and have been for the last two years. This is the first time since I became a member that the courses have been closed for a sustained period, so I'm not sure what they do about it. Maybe it's in the small print that weather conditions are out of their control so therefore no refunds are given. Might be worth asking in the office about this. The new course manager starts next Monday. Russ

Think it comes under the 'Act of God' Clause which basically says if the course has to close for reasons beyond our control, no refunds will be given. Can't blame them really they are a business....................having said that, I am a business & had a few cancellations where I lost money, will include a clause in my future contracts that ensures I get paid if they cancel due to bad weather...horse bolting & stable door this time!!
