Do many of you have golf insurance? I'm trying to make some changes to my swing so i'm not playing too well at the moment. I should probably get some! If you have, what company are you with? If you have had to use them what happened and did they handle it well? The best policy I have seen is at http://www.golferspolicy.co.uk/ £35 per year will give you amongst other things £1000 worth of equipment cover, £25000 worth of accidental damage (which they will pay without the third party having to take you to court, £5,000,000 if they do) and £150 for you hole in one round. ha. Interested to hear your thoughts. Steve

Hi Steve I'm with The Golfer's Club. Just renewed my policy and got the three free rounds (one at a De Vere course, Qhotels and Burhill), 5 greenfree vouchers and a tuition voucher free again. It costs £50 with the standard golf insurance terms and amounts etc. I used all my free golf vouchers last year which made it definitely worth it for me. Hope this helps. TIaan

I must admit I didn't like the approach of the Golfers Club. I took out their golf insurance because it was well promoted and looked okay (and you get 2-fore-1 vouchers as freebies) but then I found out that it is regionally constrained so when I said I was going to play in Spain suddenly I had to pay for a 'European Upgrade'. then when I said I may want to play in the USA I was informed that I wasn't covered and would have to upgrade to the 'Worldwide' cover. Never claimed so don't know how professional they would have been but don't like the pricing structure or the 'draw em in' sales approach. I've gone instead for a company which just offers comprehensive, play anywhere, golf insurance at a cheaper price and if I want 2-fore-1 vouchers I'll buy them at £2 each at American Golf or off the Internet (in fact if I recall correctly they weren't even 2-fore-1 vouchers they were 'GreenFree 2for1' which is accepted, ummmmmm nowhere!

Sorry steve, should have said - I went with GolfGuard ( www.golfguard.com/). It cost less than £30 because I got a discount by mentioning TheSocialGolfer (they had a TSG Offer running last year). Pete.

I had teh same thign when I went to Asia. I could add that cover for £10, but managed to do it with my travel insurance for £4 instead. The free golf rounds makes it worth it though. One round at De Vere Oulton Hall is usually £60 (more than the total insurance). And now there is two more free rounds. Tiaan

Its worth noting that you get 3 months free when you become an American Golf Card member. A great short term fix but bearing in mind mine ran out and they havent contacted me since to renew, I am not sure I would rely on this long term! As for travel, I have always put mine on my house insurance at no cost?! Let me know what you decide to go with Steve and I'll take note! Ian M

Hi, Previously my Golf Equipment was covered by my household policy but since the last renewal they only cover your equipment in an unattended motor vehicle (even if the vehicle is alarmed) if it is out of sight and stored in the boot. With an Electric trolley tour bag and clubs it is not possible to store everything in the boot. I have looked at a number of different policies and they all seem to be the same. I was wondering if anyone else has encountered the same proble. Your comments would be welcome. S

I'v just taken out another policy with Golfplan for circa £65. If the two main resons you have insurance at all are - third party liability and loss/theft of your equipment - then be very careful with the cheaper policies as these only insure for market value of kit up to three years old. Unless you are one of those golfers who buy new kit every time they have a bad shot ! then you, like me , will find most of your kit is un-insured or worth nothing in the event of a claim on a cheap policy! Go for the extra £20 or so and get 'new for old' cover regardless of the age of the kit - then if the worst happens you are still smiling!! I went with Golfplan for all the good reasons - new for old, liability insurance - hole in one insurance... I spoke to the call center staff who knew more about golf equipment than I did and the only time I needed to make a claim for repairs to a broken electric trolley they were fuss-free and it was all easily settled. The more kit you add the more expensive it can get.. so it encourages you to be prudent with that next golf purchase... Still waiting to make the hole in one claim... this year no doubt...
