Hi, I have a Mazda MX5 which is a lovely car but useless for transporting a full size bag of clubs & electric trolley as the bag & clubs have to occupy the passenger seat. Does anyone have any experience of a drop-top sports car that can accommodate a full set of clubs, tour bag & elec trolley in the boot? Thanks for your thoughts Zoey

Hi Zoey,

Two to look at Alfa Romeo Spider or BMW Z4 roadster.

apparently two set of clubs can fit into the Z4's boot (240 litres), no experience sry,  Work,Bored and Google.

Drive citreon Picasso, can take three sets clubs / three electric trollys and when not being used for transport to golf, the rear two thirds are owned by a couple of GSD's.

Helped to kill sometime only 2hrs to go............... Doh!

Hey there

I bought an old MGF just because the write ups said you could fit two championship golf bags in the boot, forgetting to say that they had to be one on top of the other...

I still use my MGF for society days, which require the full bag, shoes, powacaddy and battery, suit bag and a suitable hat.

It all fits in quite snugly.. and once you get used to the packing and unpacking sequence it's fine...

I had a look inside a lovely old Merc SLK and it had capacious storage...

Hi Stephen I've seen & driven an old MGB GT which was ideal, but haven't looked at the MGF. I'll have a look, thank you. I did look at a new SLK, but the boot was so full of roof folding stuff that my bag couldn't get anywhere near : ( I've heard that a Porsche Boxter can accommodate a full set, but haven't tried it. Does anyone have any experience of a Boxter? Zoey

A mate of mine had a nice Boxster... boot space wasn't much, just enough for 2 tennis bags... It wouldn't be an ideal for the golfer with bag and trolley.  The old SLK had the manual convertable roof so there was lots of space, but if you are looking to buy an expensive sports car with lots of boot space there are quite a few good choices elsewhere.  Depends on the budget you have available I would guess.

Hi Zoey

I remember some time ago top gear (I know, I know)  were reviewing a Jag ragtop (can't remember which one) and Clarkson was making the point that the hood was the size it was due to the fact that the boot was designed to allow a full set of clubs to be carried. Besides which a Porsche?

Hi Stephen I can believe a Jag would be good for boot space. Re: the Porsche issue. Perhaps it might be the 944?

Jag would be a good choice and classy.  a good driving experience and a lot of head turning...

The new one XK8 would be fab... but expensive...

The Old XJS - if you can find one - was a good car... especially the 12 cylinder variant.

Best of luck...

Hi Zoey

Had a Nissan 350Z and that was a great driving car - but as an added advantage it came with a diagram on how to get two full sized golf bags in the rear space. It worked!! And the golf shoes fitted in as well. As for your trolley - hire one and enjoy the drive. The hardtop will keep your hair tidy.
