I don't know who is advising Tiger Woods at this present time, but they are making a complete hash of it! The timing of his so called 'Press Conference' was poor. Accenture were the first sponsors to drop Tiger once his affairs came to light. So to have his 'Press Conference' during their tournament just stinks. Then onto the so called 'Press Conference' where only invited guests were allowed in makes me laugh. Also, no questions! I seriously think that Tiger needs to change his advisors. Russ

Russ - Your last sentence says it all - "he seriously needs to change".

WHY. He made a 13 minute statement. It wasn't a 'press conference', it was Tiger releasing a statement, which was what everyone was calling for. Okay he didn't say when he would be playing again, but he is having treatment and so maybe he doesn't know yet. And why not steal some thunder from a sponsor that dropped him. I am glad he has made this statement and not gone all weepy on Oprah!

I'm a little concerned that Tiger may be suffering financially. I would hate to think that his family may grow hungry & not have a roof over their heads. Perhaps we can all dig deep & spare a few pounds to help this family.................................. please donate at www.dec.org/tigersdownto........................... Nb not a real appeal, just Irony

What has the timing of Tigers "press conference" got to do with anyone. If you had listened to the statement that tiger read out :- First, he had spoken to Accenture prior to the conference. Secondly the reason for the timing was the fact he was going away to continue his therapy. If he had not made a "Statement" that would of been wrong, because everyone has been moaning because he has kept quiet, now when he does that is wrong!!! Then you have Golf Monthly moaning that there was no commitment from Tiger on when he would return.......................he will return if and when he feel it is right. Personally.................I could not give a monkeys about Tigers private life, It would be nice to see him back on the course, hopefully sooner rather then later. -- 21/02/2010 15:19:06: post edited by mark rowley.

If Tiger's absence improves the chances of Poulter, Casey et al winning Majors and other big tournaments, personally I am in no hurry to see him return.

I have to agree with Russ on this one.......I work in the media/PR industry and I was appalled by Tiger's press conference. Whoever is advising him should be fired straight away!! Firstly, he was too rehearsed and therefore it came across as insincere (probably appeals to the Americans though). Secondly, his audience (hand picked journo's & sponsors) was not relevant and far too corporate (the website manager, Nike Rep, Woods Enterprises Rep?! He was also presented to the world behind a lectern, why? (he's a sportsman not the President!!). He spoke for far too long and his words(in my opinion) were spoken straight from his 'Therapists' mouth.... "Its MY fault, I did wrong, MY responsibility etc (Clearly I'm para-phrasing to prevent a law suit!) The only part I dont agree with Russ on is the timing......who cares if it was at the same time as the World Matchplay, I probably would have done the same and it did stick two fingers up to the sponsors who dumped him! Sadly, this press conference has done more to damage him as a 'personality' than the 'transgression' itself, I was a huge fan of Tiger but I am actually starting to dislike him.....I am not even sure I want him to come back at all now. Tiger - fire your team now and get back to play sport rather than politics!! Ian M
