Cypress is generally rated as the best course in the world, does it deserve that rating, is it that good. Well having succeeded in getting to play a round. Yes it is great, special and truly magnificent but does it deserve its special status or is that derived because of its exclusiveness. when you play Pebble you are walking in the footsteps of heroes, were watson chipped in,like phil mick drive over the ocean on 18 and later in june some other noteworthy, maybe tiger will replicate shots you can play. You cant say that about Cypress because the majority will never play it and secondly rarely see the course on tv either. On that basis I suggest its ranking be artificial.
A further little point, only 2 miles from both pebble and cypress can be found the little vaunted poor mans pebble, the Pacific Grove, itis located on the same peninsula, has the same sort of views and hole design and comes at a fraction of the cost.... less than $50 compared to $500 now thats what i call a great course.
