Sounds like an excellent idea but I get all dizzy if I try to drive too far out of Kent and Sherfield Oaks is three counties away ...

I'll join your games local to me for the fun but look to join a Kent based friendly comp to actually win.

So who's going to organise the Kent golf comp?

PS.  I nominate Bob Smith or Carol for the Kent Comp - they're good at organising things.

Hi Pete......As i like playing the odd game golf ha ha.................... How about if carol or bob cant take up your offer maybe i could sort something out from JANUARY 09.................... so i'll do something like 3 games a week which will be held fortnightly ( mon, wed and friday ) for all comps for the areas of :- KENT, SURREY, SUSSEX, BERKSHIRE, HAMPSHIRE, LONDON NORTH and SOUTH.................. We can create another group just for this and a player can enter any day or all 3 days, but only 1 score card will count. Each player can nominate a course we should play on and all the players in may will nominate a course for the final which will be held end of JUNE..................JUST AN IDEA

I'll have a chat with Carol and see if we can come up with a Kent format. Anyway Pete you owe me some dates for when you can come and play Wrotham Heath. "Bobby No Mates" has somehow already got a small circle of friends - which means you won't have to play with just me !!!!

Maybe we could look at a winter league with total stableford points for rounds played to determine the winner ? Also, just as an aside - what about running an eclectic competition alongside the main event ?

Need some interest though from other members as I'm not chasing butt

Bob S.

Haven't spoken to Bob yet, but I'm happy to organise games at Bearsted - we have a few Bearsted members in here, so it might be possible to arrange a couple of weekend games - but the question again is 'who would be interested?'.  Another public course that I think is quite good is Cobtree (just outside Maidstone) - I'm sure we could fix up something there as well.

I'm happy for people of ability (ie Bob or Carol) to come up with a format for a winter league (as long as it's in my favour ie within 20 miles of Brands Hatch, Kent, full handicap, stableford, best of three or 'eclectic' competitions ie NOT single game stroke play...). Then I (and the usual suspects) will 'appear as if from the woodwork...' We await your command.

All the best.

PS. Pending the real comp as organised by Bob or Carol, my assessment of the hackers in the Crown Golf Group, as organised by one Mr. Neil Williams, means that I shall attend the meeting at Sherfield Oaks with the intention of, from a single game, sweeping the honours...

Signed,

Over Confident Pete......................

First of all pete i love reading your reply's and they do cheer me up ........... Well as its going to be the last game for the social golfer of the year for 2008, it will be a 36 hole game, bacon rolls and coffee, etc .... with prices still to sort out nearer the time ........ There will be prizes just for the this game alone as well as the rest of the normal ones and extra's, the winner, 2nd, 3rd, etc ................................ I WILL ALSO BE ASKING EVERY PLAYER TO ALSO DONOTE SOMETHING TOWARDS Alzheimer's Society or the British Heart Foundation AS A FELLOW MEMBER FATHERS FROM THE GROUP HAS JUST PAST AWAY........... SOME BRING NOTES AND NOT JUST YOUR LOOSE CHANGE AND LETS MAKE A DIFFERENCE, EVEN IF ONLY A SMALL ONE ................................. I WOULD LIKE MEMBERS AND AS MANY FRIENDS TO ATTEND THIS FINAL DAY

Blimey, you lot are hard to rile. I refer to you as a load of hackers and no-one takes the bait !

I will there at Sherfield Oaks to support this excellent event (and cause) and, no doubt, embarrass myself by coming 2nd last.

You will have to be there on time as neil is allways late .. he surparssaed himself today only being an hour late.

Just a thought... will we actually get 36 holes in?  If the 1st Tee is 0800 and a round takes 4 hrs 1\2 hr lunch then another round the First group should be finishing in the dark.

Good spot John, yep end of November there's no way of getting 36 holes in !  So, is it going to be an 18 hole 'decider'?
