It's the first of September and with winter on it's way it's now the time to sort out your winter gear.
Give your waterproofs an airing and check that there are no holes in them!
What about your umbrella, had it out lately? I know mine needs changing!
Have you checked your grips and gloves? Buy a wet weather glove, once things get really wet these are a must.
Then there is your winter clothing, find it now and not an hour before you need it!

Trust me people.
Get your base layers out now.
Give your flask the steradent treatment.
I've been looking at the signs and it's all pointing to Autumn being skipped this year!
Enjoy your golf while you can.

It's more than half way through September now,and the weather is still fine, courses are still in great shape, still playing in late summer conditions.
What a way to spend a few hours, playing golf !!!
What's happened to all the bad weather you forecast Russ?
Playing the Early bird rounds over the Abbotts this time of year has never been better,no hassle, no rushing, course to yourself, apart from the odd green keeper doing his job,you can't beat it.
Long may this continue,Octobers weather is supposed to be fine as well.So I will still keep playing until conditions start to change.
Come and join an early birdie round Russ,if you can.

Jack, you must know I work nights so an early start is out for me.
Trust me, the weather is on it's way, it might take a month or two but it will arrive.
I play all year round and I know from past experience that it's better to get everything out now and have it ready.
Enjoy the golf.

Britain set to enjoy Indian summer.....much of Britain is expected to be graced with an unusual spell of sunshine later this week, forecasters said. Sun worshippers seeking autumn rays will enjoy unseasonably warm temperatures with the mercury set to peak at 22C on Friday!!!

From what I'm seeing on a couple of weather forums, it's looking like it could be as bad as last winter if not worse..! So the question is, what's the best club for the snow ?!
Can someone explain 'winter rules' to me, I've yet to play in the winter (I've been a fair-weather golfer until now, but I've crossed the threshold and will play in all weathers now!)

"Winter Rules" vary from club to club but they always include the ability to 'pick and place' your ball on the fairway (note, the fairway - not in the long stuff or a bunker!). So you mark your ball position (with a tee), pick up your ball, clean it if you want and then place it anywhere within a 6 inch radius of where you picked it up from. This allows you to 'tee' the ball up which is fairer (because your ball might be 'plugged' or muddy) and it also cause less damage to the fairways during the winter period (when they don't recover).

Certainly has this morning - white frost as far as the eye can see. No more early bird games for a while!
