I see on the golf news that Crown Golf are selling 8 of their golf courses:
- Pyrford Golf Club
- Traditions Golf Club
- Paultons Golf Club
- Chelsfield Lakes Golf Club
- Addington Court Golf Club
- Orpington Golf Centre
- South Essex Golf Club
- Sunbury Golf Centre
That's surely going to affect you guys who joined one of the crown golf group courses based on their offer that you had playing rights at all of their courses.
Does anyone know how many courses that leaves in the Crown Golf group?

My club, Paultons, is on the selling list. Prima facie not good news. Will post news of developments as I find them out.

The article I saw said that they were putting the 8 clubs up for sale (so no buyer yet) to concentrate on their resorts (don't they own St Mellion?)

O-Oh!...does this indicate that Crown Golf is crumbling? There are some very good courses on that list.

As much as I enjoy the fact that I can play other Crown courses for free it won't affect me that much.
South Essex is the only one of the list that I play on a regular basis, and that is probably about four times a year.
To be honest I wish they would sell my golf club (to the members would be good!). That way it would be run as a golf club and not for the benefit of Crown Golf.

The manager at Milford does a great job and as a member i cant moan (and i dont hear of many there that do), but a few free away rounds is always good ... a few clubs on the list that will be missed.

Well, they have to find buyers first, and in this economic climate, it's not going to be easy, so it will be a while before they are disposed of I imagine. Has CG come up with a reason for the sale??? as it was my impression that they had intended to expand their empire.

I am a member of Batchworth Park Golf Club at Rickmansworth, and one of my reasons for joining was that I could play the other Crown Group courses for free. At the moment, the only course that is up for sale that is likely to affect me is Sunbury, but there are rumours of other disposals. We will have to wait and see.

There is a notice in the clubhouse at Paultons saying that this club is now no longer for sale and will remain under the Crown banner - apparently the same applies to South Essex. The remainder remain on the market. Good news for me anyway!

As far as I know, Crown golf have only got a lease of South Essex, they don't own it. Not that it will make any difference to us golfers.
