After going along to a few games and trying to pick the person out your trying to meet, would a TSG lapel Badge not be a good idea?
I would buy one

Excellent idea Chris....I had the occasion to meet a new member recently, and had to wait at the pro shop until he turned up...he was late, but it turned out he was outside waiting to be contacted. A TSG hat woud also be a good idea.

Hi Chris,
This is a very good idea and one we will consider along with a number of other options i.e. Bag Tags, Towels, Hats, T-shirts etc.
However, all of this will take a little time, so we will look into how we can get round the problem in the short-term and report back shortly!
Happy Golfing!

What I normally do when organising a game is to PM the people who haven't played golf with me before telling them what I'm likely to be wearing, etc.
But a good idea would be a Social Golfer polo shirt!

Hi Chris,
OK, we have put our thinking hats on and thrown around a few ideas of how we can get around this issue in the short term and have come up with the following solution........
If you are arriving at a club and meeting with a member you have not played with before (or they dont have a photo in their profile) you can now download a full TSG logo in PDF form by going to the following:
HOME / 19th HOLE / SPREAD THE WORD / PROMOTIONAL POSTER.....
This can be printed and in the event of an emergency can be held aloft. Agreed, you may not look particularly cool with it held above your head (perhaps hold it across the chest) but hopefully it will ensure avoiding a no-show and may even attract a few new members to the site!
What do you think Chris, do you think will work for now, while we consider alternative options?
Regards
Ian

I have done exactly that, but I taped mine to my golf bag and it works well.

Of course, a TSG bag tag...large enough to be noticed, similar to those issued by clubs to their members.
(More bloody expense :-))

Not a good idea Jack...if everyone did that, imagine the variations not only in design but also in quality...must show the society in the best and most professional light, and a good quality, highly visible tag is, in my opinion, a must. Something for the future no doubt.

Hi Roger,
Sorry for the delay regards this and other branded TSG items, we are aware that this was discussed by the previous TSG Team but never delivered. Rest assured a long term solution to this is in hand and we hope to have this ready for the new year, if not sooner.
If you could just bear with us a little longer, we promise it is high on our list of things to do!
Regards
Ian

A towel, bag tag and other items, must of course be paid for, and as this site is free, it is difficult to see where the money is coming from.
Personally, I would be happy to pay a modest amount for all the facilities offered by TGS...what say you?

I think your spot on Alan.
I am loving the idea of some merchandise as it is difficult sometimes when you turn up and you don't know who your playing with.
And although i try to tell everyone who will be interested in such a site i think it will go along way to promoting the site to.

As i frequent quite a few sites for all number of things i will say the really successful one's are free. The rationale for this is simple would you pay to join a site not being sure how the community works or even if it works? i will say that most of them carry adds to help pay the way.

Good point Chris, but I have looked at 2 such sites, and A. the advertising is very intrusive, but I suppose that could be ignored if you are an occasional user, but most importantly, B. The sites are not at all well designed...difficult to navigate...quite slow, and very few games on offer.
I think the reason for this is that most people simply don't understand just how much work goes in to providing a web site (Clearly not you Chris, as IT is your lifeblood :-) ) It is very time consuming, and if free, then advertising is the only source of revenue. The site should be run for its members, not for advertising.
It is my humble opinion, that the TSG site is probably the best around, and it is also my experience that the TSG is the more social of all the golf groups I have been involved in.
For that reason, I think that a modest annual fee would be in order with perhaps new members given a 1 or 2 month trial period. This would allow goodies to be distributed, and with a guaranteed income, the site and member benefits would improve over time, Waddya think??
