I'm with Pete on this, 'Yellow ball' is great fun if there are a few groups, although I have always played it: that if someone loses the ball on their turn the game stops for the whole team - adding pressure when its your go. If you can get the ball round the full 18, youre doing pretty well.
Alternatively, a 9 or 18 holes
'Texas Scramble' can be very strategic:
1. Each team will consist of four players
2. All players tee off on each hole.
3. The team captain then selects the best drive and marks the position with a tee (The other players then retrieve their drives).
4. The player whose ball has been chosen then plays his next shot first.
5. The remaining players then play within six inches of the tee peg
6. The above method of play is followed until the green is reached.
7. On the green its the same. The ball chosen is marked and players putt from the same spot.
8. Each player must mark the ball after putting.
9. Play continues from the best position after every shot until the ball is holed.
10.The score is the total number of shots from the chosen spots (including the tee shot).
Note! If a player putts and misses but then inadvertently knocks the ball into the hole, then that score counts AND the fun bit....a min. of 2 or 4 (9 or 18 holes) tee shots per player to be picked!!
Winner: The total for each hole is added up and the strokes received subtracted to give the total net medal score for the round. The winning team will be the one with the lowest medal score.
Great fun!
