Now I have never, ever been an 'early morning' person.

My idea of a great days golf is to get up around 9am and tee off around 11am to midday.

Now I work nights but this doesn't stop me playing midweek during the summer months.

My problem now is that the job I'm doing at the moment means I don't finish work until 6am, or even later if there are problems at the depot or on the road!

At the start of the winter I used to go to bed and get up at 11am, tee off at midday and be finished around 3pm.

This started to get a bit of 'hard work' as I struggled to get out of bed!

So I decided to give 'early morning golf' a try.

I played the Priors course at my golf club and started at 8am (not really early, but early for me!)

Started well enough but I could feel myself getting tired as the round progressed.

At this moment I've played two early morning rounds and the second round wasn't as bad as the first one, so maybe I'm getting used to playing early.

I'll keep trying but at the moment the snow is stopping any golf whatsoever!

This is my favorite time to play as well Russ.I prefer this as it suits my shift pattern at work and life style.
You don't get the real benefits this time of year because winter months, but in the summer when its light at 5.00a.m thats when the "EARLY BIRD GOLFER" comes into it's own.
I have teed off at 5.30a.m in the morning, had the course to myself,no one else around.no need to rush,or worry about the group behind, the first person you see will probably be a green keeper.
The only problem that I have had playing this early is sometimes you might have to wait for the green keeper to cut the grass on the green,or locate a new hole position, but I can live with that.
I do play quite a few "early bird" games over the Abbotts course throughout the year,on some occasions someone from the T.S.G has joined me and they have commented on how enjoyable it can be.So there must be something to it.
It's not everyone's cup of tea,but don't knock it til' you have tried it.!!!!!!!!
I will be posting "EARLY BIRD" rounds next year,so if you get the chance come along and see for yourself
