Played Carden Park ( Cheshire ) with Steve Locke , following the very generous offer from Ian Halliwell for members of Social Golfer to participate free in both the Pro-Am ( thursday 11th' september ) and the celebrity golf day ( friday 12th' September).
Played well on thursday and finished -2 with Pro David Smith on the very challenging and windy Cheshire course. Winning score of -5 by Ian Halliwell and Pro Joel Rodwell ( he obviously had inside knowledge ). Well done Ian.
Played the Nicklaus course on Friday with partners Sreve Locke ( Social golfer ) , Steve Alford ( local) and celebrity Willie Young ( ex- Arsenal and Forest). Nice guy but he should stick to football.Finished in the pack , but a very pleasant day on an interesting course although not as long from the yellows as the previous day.
Steve Locke and I met some great people at the event, and had a very enjoyable time.
The event was sponsored by MRC ( Ian's Company ) and was to raise money for the Stroke association. Ian has created the Social Golfer ( coincidence that he chose the same name as our association) and to date he has raised £13,000 for the Charity.We hope that Ian can continue to raise money for a very worthy cause and that we as members of the Social golfer can support any future events.
