Golf Forums - Mobile Phone Numbers

It has been suggested that the 'Member Profile' should be expanded to, if they want to, show the mobile phone number. 

Rather than just add a new field saying Phone Number which would be visible to all we could implement this so that the phone number detail is only shown to other members if they are on your Friends List or are in a Group which you are a member of.

Is this something which would be of use? and if so how would you want it to work?

I think it's a good idea.  We haven't all got email in our pockets, and it can be necessary to make contact for any number of reasons.  Visible to friends, groups and upcoming games seems sensible.

Ah, that's an interesting one, visible to your friends, groups members and people who are in a game you have joined - the games bit sounds like a good idea to me (I presume mobile vidible only while the game is 'active' ?)

I think just allow a mobile phone number. You have the choice then to add it or not. It is usefull if you have arranged a game and are not sure of the people to meet at the club. A quick phone call most of the time stops all the asking everyone sitting down in the bar if they are meeting you.

It's a sensible solution to just add the field and let folks populate it as they wish.  I guess we're all aware that there is no such thing as secure data these days so there is the possibility that you could get cold calls from Golf equipment companies.  I don't mind posting my moby number.
