Drove down 7 mile lane the other day and noticed Wrotham Heath golf club there. It looked OK from the road has anyone played it? Is it worth a go? Very local to me and didn't realise it was there.

A lovely old course with a very friendly clubhouse.  It was originally a 9 hole course and then a few years ago (don't know when!) they acquired some land on the other side of the road.  This allowed them to build four new holes on that side and they crammed another few onto the original course to make an 18 hole course.  So, if there is a criticism it would be that the original layout has been a little compromised in order to fit in the extra holes (you play across another fairway on a couple of holes).  But, if you're local, well worth a visit.

The extra holes were designed by Donald Steel a well-known golf course architect and the official architect to the R&A.

I have played at Wrotham Heath for nearly 50 years and I reckon that it is now one of the prettiest and most pleasant inland courses in Kent with many changes of elevation and many really challenging holes. It is extremely friendly and 'Arry the Pro has been there for well over 30 years,is a great character and, justifiably,an Honorary Member. Good grub is always available!

A Really enjoyable course. Some really hard holes - especially the par 5 that ends in a downhill green. Really nice members.

I played it a few years ago when it was 30deg c. take loadsa water.

The only thing I didn't like was having to get across a really busy road to play a few holes. But other than that very nice and I recommend a game or two there.
