Hi,

Just wanted to say hello as I'm a new member to the forum as well as a new beginner to the game.  Although I've played a few times in the distant past it's only now that I've decided to give it a go for real.  Looking forward to getting out as much as I can while the weather is good.  There's plenty of courses near to me in Gloucester for beginners, but it doesn't look like there's much local activity on the forum.

I got out on Sunday with my new clubs for 18 holes at Shipton Golf Course, a nice 9 hole pay & play.  And although there is plenty of opportunity for improvement (to say the least), I really enjoyed myself.

Anyone else near to me that wants to play with a beginner?

Lloyd

Hi Lloyd,

Welcome to the TSG community!

I think you'll find were a friendly bunch......

There are a number of golfers in your area (60+ within 20 mile of Shipton) so you should be able to find a few to join you on your quest to learn the game. Best way to find new playing partners, is to start posting games!

And who knows, it could soon be you winning the TSG monthly leaderboard.

Happy Golfing!

Hi Lloyd,

No worries at this stage re handicap...just get use to playing.

Mens handicaps go up to 28 max so best to reset yours to this.

Suggest you put some games up local to you to see if there are any players in your area rather than using the forum as "join games" are much easier to see.

Good luck.
