Hi I am thinking of getting a new set of clubs and looking at getting them custom fitted so I would like some opinions from you golfers out there.

Sounds like a great idea Clark, it's something that most of us are guilty of not doing, (myself included) , can anyone who already has had clubs fitted, let us know what a difference they made?
Greg.

Not sure this counts or not......
I took delivery of some new clubs last year (after a certain theft at Broke Hill!!) and I took my new clubs to Direct Golf (they gave me a free fitting). Oh dear, what a mistake, I took my clubs onto the range straight after and couldnt hit anything but a really REALLY bad slice?!
I perservered for about an hour before I walked back into the shop and asked them to be changed back!!
I am sure it works if you are just starting out in golf but if youve worked hard as I have at being able to hit clubs that dont fit me, why change now - I am very happy using non fitted clubs!

Do yourself a big favour & get your fitting done at The Belfry. They have the best & latest technology. You can try any club & the price is very competative.

I'm not surprised by that Ian. Golf pro at the club I used to be a member of said they were bandits who knew very litlle about golf. If you go in there to buy a club of any sort, you will be recomended on Adams club. I guess that's where their mark up is!
I went to Ping to get custom fitted for mine clubs. Excellent service. Did it work? Ish. At least I now know when I carve it into the trees it's not the wrong club, it's the idiot attached.

Its was the best move I ever made,my first set from American Golf, off the shelf, bargain Mizzuno's,they had carbon shafts, regular flex,I never really got on with them.
I changed them after about 2 years after visiting a shop that made Custom fitted clubs, the clubs the shop sold where mostly American Imports and A VERY GOOD PRICE.
When I had the old clubs checked out to see if they suited me,the guy laughed and said the shafts in the clubs where totally wrong for my swing speed, the loft and lies where all different on each club.
He gave me food for thought would I buy an expensive suit from Saville Row that didnt fit, no chance.
WHY WALK INTO AMERCAN GOLF BUY A SET OF CLUBS THAT ARE TO BIG, WRONG LOFT AND LIES,and Most important THE WRONG SHAFTS,its like buying a suit that dont fit properly, every golfer has a different requirement.
The clubs I bought from him where custom fitted, took 4 months to get right, adjusting loft and lies addiing extra weight to the club head, hitting numerous balls, making notes of divot marks, even the pitch mark on the green.Thats how thorough this club maker was,and do I now feel the benefits for it.
They have riffle shafts fitted to them that also make the difference, even the grips are measured for thickness for the individual.
With a lot of practice and playing with these clubs, got me from 16H/C TO SINGLE FIGURES, also with taking golf lessons helped enormously.
Custom fitting for me is a must, but like all things its what you want out of the game, and how serious you are about it
Jack
