I have adjusted my Handicap on the site,by adding another 4 shots to my handicap, instead of playing off 8.2, I have decided to start again and play off 12.2.

This I have given a lot of thougut to,because my last few games have been a nightmare, due to the fact I had my little finger amputated on my right hand and have serious injury to my ring and index fingers.
Gripping the club is still a problem, and playing the game to the standard I am use to is a thing of the past.
It gets frustating in many ways not only in the playing capacity, but the mind games when shots that used to be so routine and easy, are now hard work.

I have accepted that I cant play single figure golf now and it will with time get better, but to give my self a realistic chance of posting a decent score have increased my handicap with the goal of getting down to single  figures again,at the same time accepting the fact that I am not as good as I was  before my accident, and hope that  I can  start to enjoy my golf again and be more realistic of the situation.

What do other members think, have I done the right thing?

I would like to hear other opinions or Idea's, I am serious about this situation, and would appreciate some positive feed back!

 Hi Jack,
Sorry to hear about your injury. Its great to find someone who is prepard to tell everyone that they have changed thier h/cap & why,I am sure that no-one on this web site will object to what you have done.

The very best of luck and hopefully I will be able to see your handicap returning to where you would like it to be.

Hi Jack,
you know i'm going to think this is a good idea, anything that will take a little pressure off trying to play as before has to be beneficial, so on the one hand i totally agree with you.......................................but on the other hand............................................counting up your score could be interesting if using your right.

Greg when you are use to playing the standard of golf I was acustom to, I only ever needed one haand to count my score,on any one hole.
I only used 2 hands to add up the amount of holes I had won by,my little finger comes in handy if the hole is halved.
Cheers

Resetting my handicap was the best move I could have made,I have shot under 12 H/C  4 times now scoring 42pts on one occasion.
Played again today with 3 other members, and scored another 38pts it was very windy, and cold at 8.00a.m this morning.I suffered quite a bit with my grip, because of some discomfort in my ring finger,it is still quite swollen from my injury, the cold wind made it quite painful at times.
Walking along with my powa caddy and an oven glove over my righthand gave some cause for a bit of banter, but who cares,I shot my H/C again and thoroughly enjoyed myself.Thats what its all about !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A few bad shots where cursed, then quickly forgotten.
If I can keep playing and improving like this, now off 11.8  I have every chance of getting back to 8 h/c by the time we play at Woburn. Some t.s.gers may wonder why I write so much on the forum about this subject, the truth is if you set your self reasonable targets after a bad injury like mine,if you are serious enough you will reach your goals,it might give someone else the encouragement to do it as well.
I would just like to add a big thanks to Dave,Greg, and Lucky FRANK( who beat me this morning) for their company and freindship on the course this morning,I had a great one CHEERS LADS .
