I have been playing now for 18 months. I have a set of ben sayers clubs (cheap set) i have gone from hitting around 140-150 to hitting around 100-105. Is it time to invest in a good set of game improver irons and hybrids. I have a custom fitting session in two weeks any advice would be welcome. I was looking at the mizuno jpx 800 clubs any advice?

where are you going for custom fitting? Don't go to American Golf, there custom fitting is;we can sell you this set money in the till.THANKYOU.
Book an appointment with someone like ping,or a reputable club maker, there are some around, even look in the Essex Golfer mag.
There is alot involved,in Custom fitting, its not a 5 minute job,the most important aspect is to trust the the guy giving you the advice what you need.
Not many golfers adopt this attitude, hats off to you,I have written on the forum many times about my experience of custom fitting, and the advantages it has.
Have a look at the previous posts about it.
My clubs took about 5-6 months to get right each one was hand made.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT,the most important thing is the shaft thats fitted.
I have Rilfle shafts in mine, they are the dogs b;',,.;;;;;;;;.
Let us know how you get on GOOD LUCK

After struggling to hit under 100 I did it and this was only with one decent club.Cant wait to get the set now. got to find the money dont tell the wife!

well done Glen you will notice the complete change in your game when you get the full set.Now the key issue is to trust the clubs you have and give them a chance.
Results won't happen over night, they are cutsom fitted for you, alot of work lays a head.
One thing to start on is to hit balls over the range, not for practice but to hit say 20-30 balls with each club then take the average distance you hit them.this will give you an idea of what yardage you hit each club.
That what I did years ago,I know how far I can hit every iron in my bag.
Did this set come with an wedges,If so practice hard with these knowing how far you hit them is crucial to a good short game, this is where your H/c will come down, dramaticaly.
Wish you luck with them and look forward to seeing you top of the leader board.
Keep us posted with your progress it makes interesting reading
Cheers
Jack
