If you play in a competion or society golf day and there are say 3 players with the same amount of points, which one wins on a count back.
Is it the score for the last nine holes played, the last 3 holes played,or do you go back through the card starting on 18th and adding the scores together until you reach a winner.
I have heard of so many different variations, what one is seen as the norm??

Hi Jack,
Not sure there is an 'Official rule' on this, however, for the record I always use the following system....
The lowest cumulative (Stapleford) score over the 18, if there is still a tie after this, I revert to 'count-back' on the back 9, then last 6, then last 3 and if its still even, the very last hole. That should sort the men from the boys but if there is still no winner after this - I would toss a coin!

Hi Jack
Ian is correct, but if that still doesn't give you a winner, you go to the front 9 score and start with the first 3 holes, then the first six and even if you still can't split it its the full front 9 score, hope this helps.
