Ok guys - the Epping Bandits challenged the SES to a match at Surrey National on the 17 Dec 2011(what were they thinking!) we're game. and thought we'd take it one step further.

We're throwing it open to all groups (min 24 members to qualify),
Each group plays a home and away match against every other group,
Teams of eight players each,

Games format: Singles 4 players, Alternate ball 2 players and better ball 2 players
Scoring format: Highest stapleford score wins match - 1 point awarded for each single match, 1 point each for alternate and better ball matches (total 6 points available).

Annual competition,
Trophy awarded to winning group (to keep until next competition),
Group name engraved on trophy.

Knock out format, venues and dates TBC

Suggestions welcome!

So if you think your group is the best (apart from SES of course!) then lets from you!

Quite a few views but not a lot of action. Obviously only SES and Epping bandits are brave enough. for the challenge !!!!!!

Well SES must be desperate as they sent a spy out today to play with some of the Epping Bandits at Top Meadow today, we didn't say to much Steve Hunt as it would have got back to the opposition, as I played with Steve today I don't think we have much to worry about. Hey keep practicing out there!!!
Let the Dual begin

Hi Russ,

Hmmm, I think we should put TV rights for this one out to tender, that way we'll get a better deal. They'll be falling over themselves!!

Meanwhile, there IS some more movement media wise.......check out the up and coming 'Golf News' Society Guide (Out Dec 10th) we have an article on TSG in it!

well, a bad result for the bandits, a extremely good result for SES. It hurts to say but 6-0 Im afraid. We were made extremely welcome by a good bunch of guys.A few teething problems with format and costs, but it soon was sorted.Must speak to Daniel about course information and gimmees for next time but will look forward to the return. Best we can hope for is a draw, unless we move the goalposts and have the best of 3!!!!!!!!!. I urge other groups to get involved, you never know you might enjoy it

Congratulations to the South East Swing.........

Epping bandits, dont despair, myself and a playing a partner turned around an 8 shot lead on day two of a similar type match last year - we still lost but we got it back to 1 down with three to play, so its all to play for!

Daniel/David, what is the format for this going forward? It is an annual match between the two groups or are you looking for another team to challenge the winners etc etc?

Let us know, this could be fun!

Ian

Hi Ian - I guess the idea is that its open to all societies in TSG with a minimum of 24 members. Annual event. The more the merrier!

Well does'nt time fly? - Seems like yesterday when we were arranging this.

To the Epping Bandits please note; we win by default if you cant arrange a home match within three months of your away game. That would be end of March.

Let us know.

Regards,

Daniel

2nd Annual Society Cup Results:

SES 4 - 2 Epping Bandits

It was another great day on the course! Thanks to everyone who took part especially Ian Mullins who presented the cup to the winning team.

Next years match will be hosted in August by the Epping Bandits at a course of their choice, so if you think your society is up for it, we'd love to see you there!

It has been a privilage to be a part of such quality players.....both cup holders and challengers!

Here's to another year, and as we say in The SES..keep swinging (stop it!)

Congratulations to the South East Swingers, well played and let's see what next year brings.

Good choice of course, and weather for the day, well done to Gary for organising.

Well what can I say, I don't think we can be called bandits anymore as we have lost 2 years running, The SES is a very strong team and we have learned a lot from them so I'm sure next year we will have some better chance of taking the cup to it's rightfull area of Essex. With regard to the match it was a great event and thanks to Gary and Daniel for making us most welcome and for a great day, And Hey to all you golfers, keep practicing out there!!!!
