Has anybody had the Shanks before ? if so how did you manage to correct it.

I used to shank quite alot, was told by a pro to stand closer and taller to the ball(only slightly)this lifted the heel of the club(again very slightly) and also made you use a more upright swing plane. Once you are used to the new swing go back to your normal stance. Worked for me, only shank every blue moon now. Hope it helps, if not seek a pro's help

Not sure I can offer any advice on how to stop the shanks but when are we going to see you out on the course again!!

I developed the dreaded shanks a couple of months ago.
Booked a lesson with my pro and he told me the following.
1) I was standing to close to the ball
2) My backswing was starting to far on the inside.
Once I stood the correct distance from the ball and started the club back on the correct line, no more shanks!

Thanks for that Russ, people dont realise how much convidence it takes out of your game, hopefully sorted it out myself I took a bit off 4x2 piece of wood down the range lined it up first couple of shots clipped the wood after that it was happy days again, played on sunday I think I may of done 1 :)
