Hi Greg,

No, possibly not!  However, I would prefer to see this as more of a 'mission' statement than a promise.......or maybe we'll call it a resoultion! :-)

Anyone else got any goals for 2012?

Ian

Its my intention to get to single figures again by the time I play Woburn on 26 04 12.this means loosing about 3.5 shots off my present H/c.
Ian possibly a more realistic target for you may be to get down to 12 H/C.
That does mean a lot of work, and comittment so we might see you on the fairways a bit more this year.
Come and join any of our games, there are some of us that can help you with you MISSION.
I for one will help you with your game where I can.Just ask me!!!!!!!!!!!!!
good luck anyway
Jack

A  very Happy New Year to all on TSG, and good luck to all those with resolutions to reduce their handicap!!

I've not been able to play at all in the last few weeks, so am not sure I should 'resolve' to lower my handicap..... but certainly intend to enjoy being on the course as much as I have since joining TSG in 2011.

With this in mind, I hit 50 balls on the driving range before breakfast on New Year's Day at the hotel I was staying at in Hampshire.....and another 100 yesterday!

Many thanks for the offer Jack but I think you'd be pushing water up a hill......will try to join you for a Thu game at Weald Park one week but alas, this work marlarkey keeps getting in the way at the moment!

John - its no good trying to improve your game on the range, its the fairways you need to be playing on!

:-)

My aim was/is to consistently get around in under 100!! Strange thing is somehow for the 2nd game running I've posted a 94, not that I know what I've changed to achieve this!  None the less it's still my target

Have had to revise any resolutions i was thinking of due to an arm incident, was just wondering how those who were brave enough to declare their hopes for 2012, either on this forum post or privately, are fairing?.

Hi Greg,

Hmmm....I was doing soooo well and had three straight sub ninety rounds but alas the wheels came off again.

However, still thinking I can get down to single figures this year, at a push......OK, still a little optimistic!

When do you think we'll see you back on the course?

After a long much-needed break, I've now played 4 times this year.  4 very enjoyable games - as they all should be - and even a (slight) handicap reduction.   Not looking forward to the wheels coming off though!

Hope to see you back on the course soon, Greg.

Glad to see you're still aiming high Ian.  My revised resolution is to play as much golf as i can , just as soon as i can, (maybe starting sometime in April) and to enjoy every last stroke on the way, no matter how good or bad.

Hello-"Mr Scorecard Stalker" as everyone is saying on the site me included, glad to see you are getting better and soon hope you are playing again.
I think we should have a Greg Butler returns golf day,for injured golfers,I could be your partner we will truley have a proper H/C THEN
I can't wait to have that first game with you,it won't be to long.
I returned to work on Monday 19th March after my injury, and things ain't so bad now especially with the golf,
been over the course practicing for an hour or so 2-3 times a week, its not the same as just hitting balls over the range.
On some holes I was playing 5 or 6 balls, hitting from the same spot til I got it right,I used even more on my short game, hitting on to a proper green and then holing out.YES,I did repair all my pitch marks.and racked the bunkers.
This was how I practiced about 6-7 years ago,you have to put in the time and effort to get the results, hence I have nearly reached my GOAL.
As you know I put my H/C upto 12, from 8, with the ambition of getting back to single figures by Woburn, well the practicing and playing is paying off because after todays game at Romford I am now playing off 9 again, after shooting 77.
Its a great feeling, although Romford is rather flat I wonder how I would fair at somewere like Weald Park, with all the different lies.
Will be put to the test on Monday at Chigwell G,C. will probably be eating humble pie for lunch Ha!Ha!!!
Woburn is only 5 weeks away now, come round very quick.
see you there if not before???????????
