Im very new to this site so its a bit cheeky of me to ask but here goes. Im looking for a golf club to join and it may be a nice idea to include golf membership prices and availability/waiting times in the course descriptions. I dont know how difficult this would be or even if its worthwhile. It could be a lucrative for the site as maybe they can take a little percentage of memberships signed up through this site. Just a thought. Cheers

Hi Dan, the forum is the perfect place for asking advice about clubs & courses worth playing from other local members (including likely costs, benefits, how friendly they are etc).  The course directory is more about providing members with a general resource to decide where they'd like to play and, unfortunately, maintaining the detail with waiting lists and prices for joining a specific club is not something we think would prove of major benefit to enough members, but we could be wrong!  So let's see if anyone supports your suggestion in this forum thread.

With regard to your objective of playing more joining a golf club - to help best you'd need to tell a bit more -  What particular area would best suit you?  What type of course do you prefer to play (parkland, tight, open etc)?  What are you looking for (friendly club, cheap club, challenging course)?

Alternatively, to meet more people and play more golf you could post more games/join more games on TSG - it's what the community is for !!!

PS, nearly 50% of all TSG members do both - member of a spceific club for competitions/member of TSG to meet new golf friends, play alternate golf courses and have more fun.

Hi Dan - you can get most Golf Club membership fees from their websites - most clubs worth while joining now advertise through this media.

In Kent and I am sure the same situation exists in Surrey - all golf clubs are hunting for new members. If you can afford it I would suggest you go for a friendly members owned club. This way you will better ensure that you can play when you want (within reason).

When I recently changed Clubs I spent 2/3 hours on the internet looking at Kent golf club fees/course length/general setup - and drew up a shortlist of ones that interested me. Only you will know what type of course suits your game - whether you want a course with a premium on accuracy or one where you can boom it miles.

Hope this helps

Bob

Thanks for the feedback fellas, I assumed  every members course would have a waiting list that would go on forever, but its good to know they are crying out for new blood. I'm putting some pennys away so I can get a membership as soon as possible.

cheers
