I shall elaborate further. I have a works golf day in September this year and we are trying to think of a convenient venue to play on a Sunday morning. Therefore the course has to be in/around the M25 and east of Watford and Croydon and not require a mortgage for the green fee.
Last year we played at Birchwood Park and are hoping to try somewhere new this year so I thought I'd throw it over to the wise old sages at TSG and see if they can come up with any suitable venues.

Pedham Place and Austin Lodge are both decent and not far from M25 (Pedham Place is virtually on top of J3 but not blighted by the M25), Austin Lodge is longer and probably more expensive than Pedham Place. But both are nice courses and in a similar price bracket to Birchwood.

Hi Adam,

You could do worse than South Essex, as it can cater for lots of people but I recall you hated this course (something about the long rough?!).....alternatively, you could try any of the other TSG courses we have deals with e.g.

Woolston Manor
Bletchingley
Surrey National
Woldingham
Westerham
or The Addington.....

The last being a Top 100 GB & Ireland course - see 'members offers' pages for details.

You may even be able to negotiate some preferential rates on the back of the TSG deal?

OR you could try my latest favourite Warley Park, that would be a great test for all levels!

Otherwise, any of the courses mentioned below are all good....

Cheers for the List Ian. Problem with the likes of Woolston and I'm guessing others is the need for a Sunday morning tee time.

South Essex isn't a bad shout, but I think it might be the same problem. You're right I did hate it when I played there last year. I thought the rough was unreasonably punishing. I played there in January or February this year and it was much, much better.

Like the look of Austin Lodge. Cheers for the heads up on that one.

What's Cheshunt like Howard? Tight? Long?

Don't forget Gatton Manor.

Well worth a visit. Great track. Hosts the Surrey Open.

Green fee is £48 but if you join there "friends" list through there website [no charge] you can get a discount of £10 during the summer and even more off during the winter.

Just to add to the Pedham Place v Austin Lodge.

I'd highly recommend AL over Pedham.  Pedham is an OK course, it's fine, but it's location sucks.  There's no views, it's very flat, has power cables nearby and compared to Austin Lodge which is a better course anyway imo, it has great views of the valley it sits in/on.  And some history too, what is now the 5th and 6th hole used to be a glider runway where some of the first gliders ever flew!

Wouldn't recommend walking Austin Lodge if time is important though, it's very hilly!
