Welcome to the TSG MatchPlay Championship 2015(Sponsored by The Altonwood Group). In order to secure your place in this year’s event, join this group by Sunday 22nd March at Midnight and we will put your name in the hat for the draw. There is only room for 64 golfers and you will require a TSG Handicap to enter(3+ cards) or a CONGU Handicap. The tournament will be a knock-out style format and you will have one month to complete each match. First player in tie has first dibs on venue. Games will commence in April. Standard MatchPlay rules will apply but MUST be agreed by both players before match begins (more info to be published at start of competition). Those failing to complete their games will have their matches decided by the toss of a coin. It's free to enter and will culminate in a Grand Final on Sunday 20th Sept at Woldingham Golf Club. Finalists will play for free and others wishing to come along for a 'social' day in order to watch the winner crowned will be able to do so at 'Members' rates (TBC). Current TSG MatchPlay Champion 2014 – Mark Crane (H’cap 20).

You should have popped down John, you could have been the referee, and always a pleasure :-)
Well done Andy. There goes the chance of an all Redbourn final!! Unlucky Roger!
Got lucky today and scored well on the right holes against Roger today. It was a very enjoyable round of golf with a true Gent. So John, sorry mate but you got ol gobby in the final. See you on the 20th people
The last semi final is at Redbourn this Sunday.Think I might need to get lucky to beat the in form Roger. But I'll give it a goIt will be nice to play with Roger and discover a new course for future golf :-)
Well done John, you played well and deserved the win. I enjoyed the afternoon very much. You are a top bloke. Thanks for driving down from Luton. Good luck in the final
We now await just one more result as today, I beat Tuan 4 & 3 at Epping. Even though Tuan tried to throw the match in the first half, it took to the 16th to produce a winner. You may ask how he tried to throw the match, well on the 5th SI1, he ran back to the 4th green to collect his wedge, but I was up to his game and lost the hole by three shots. He then tried to take the power out in the surrounding areas by hitting the cables above the 7th, but, still knowing what he was upto, I three putted for a half.Apologies to Tuan who caught me on one of the rare good days of this years golfing. (Same ball all the way!!) I look forward to meeting him out playing again soon.

Hi All, just played our match at Redbourn with Roger, who I must say played very steady golf off his 22 handicap. With that in mind I managed to take it to the 17th, where Roger won 3 and 1. Well played Roger and thank you for a cracking days golf. Good luck in the semi-final. Hopefully see you on the course soon. Regards Paul
Dear TSG MatchPlayers,We now have all but one game result in from the players still involved in the competition.Meaning we have our semi-final draw.....1. R.De'Ath(22) or P.Thorne(14) Vs A.Flynn(12) 2. Tuan Nguyen (21) Vs John Barber (18) Games to be completed by 31st August.Who will it be at Woldingham in September?Ian & The TSG Team-------------------
To whoever I am drawn against, I apologise in advance. at the moment I can only play on a Sunday, and this coming month I cannot play the 16th. The other Sundays are free, but I prefer the 9th or the 23rd, (in case the weather gets in the way). stay happy, but at least I am not practising before the game

Hi Ian and co, is there another draw for the semi finals, or is it winner game one v winner game two and of course winner of 3 against winner game 4 from the 1/4 finals please?

Thanks Brigitte, I booked online for heron hawk, but when we arrived we were told we had booked the vixen heron. So that;s what we played, but I checked when I got home, and the booking clearly said the heron hawk. And there are still 4 of us in the competition, so time will tell :-)And by the way Brigitte, I mentioned your awesome bunker shot while out on the course :-)

Well done Andy, did you get a "sandy birdie" @ the par 3 , 16th Hawk/Heron? I did demonstrate how to do it on 30th May 2015 !!!!!!????Good luck in your next round, you are so near to getting that Trophy....Brigitte x
Andy F scraped home against Phil Fen on the 18th to win by 2 holes, on a very wet S Essex course, played competitively but still the typically male banter in the 4 ball. Thanks to Tuan, (who was spying on possible opposition), and Pete for joining us for an enjoyable if rather wet front 9. -- 26/07/2015 17:52:19: comment edited by Andy (the Flukiest) Flynn.

Well done John....
Todays match with Chris Wilkins resulted in a 2/0 win for me. I appeared at one time to start getting my own way, but Chris hunted me down to be 1 behind at the start of the 18th. Luck deserted him, when his drive gave him an opportunity of trying a 'Langer' - his ball being perched in the fork of a tree. I think that drop out cost him the chance of taking it down the first for a play-off. Many thanks Chris, for a thoroughly enjoyable round.
I lost to Phil Fen, a few weeks ago. I did report the loss but it was, obviously, missed. I have just been playing with Nick Griffiths and Roger Dickson and they told me they had lost as well. That simplifies things somewhat!
Hi Brigitte (et al),Here is a list of the runners and riders with one exception. Richard Saunders has now withdrawn from the competition, meaning Tuan you are through to the semi-final....1. A.Flynn/N.Griffiths Vs K.Gregory/P.Fen2. R.De'Ath/M.Haggerty Vs R.Dickson/P.Thorne3. R.Saunders Vs M.Crane/T.Nguyen4. J.Barber Vs C.Wilkins/G.HeathHappy Golfing!Ian & The TSG Event Team-------------------------Ps Semi-final draw will take place next week!
Thanks Gareth, but not sure I deserve it! Hope you had a great holiday.
