Welcome to the TSG MatchPlay Championship 2018.... In order to secure your place in this year’s event, join this group by Friday 9th March at Midnight and we will put your name in the hat for the draw. This competition is ONLY open to TSG PRO members and there is only room for 64 golfers and you will require a TSG Handicap to enter(3+ cards). The tournament will be a knock-out style format and you will have one month to complete each match. First player in each tie has first dibs on venue. Games will commence in April. Standard MatchPlay rules will apply but MUST be agreed by both players before the match begins (more info to be published at start of competition). Those failing to complete their games will have their matches decided by the toss of a coin. It's free to enter and will culminate in a Grand Final in Sept. This year will again see a third place play-off. Finalists will play for free and others wishing to come along for a 'social' day in order to watch the winner crowned will be able to do so at 'Members' rates (TBC). Current TSG MatchPlay Champion 2017 – Andy Attard (H’cap 18).
an all Essex final where the best golfers come from!
Very enjoyable game at Brentwood GC for our semi-final. As Dave said, local knowledge played its part for sure, but Dave played very well also. Taking holes with Birdies even when I managed Pars. Good fun and the better player on the day won. Good Luck in the final Dave.
We have our finalists everyone!Andy, Dave - can you join the Game Page asap, so we know how many visitors places are left!https://www.thesocialgolfer.com/viewevent.aspx?id=8267Many thanksIan & The TSG Event Team----------------------------
Andy King and I played our semi final this morning. The cool mist rolled across the Brentwood course as we ventured down the 1st. Andy went 1 up. The sun very quickly warmed and so did my game. Making the most of my local knowledge I went 5up after 8. Andy fought back to 2D, but I managed to steady the slide and hold on for a 3&2 victory. Thanks for the game Andy
Well done Ollie who won our Matchplay on unknown territory by 3 & 2. Maybe Ollie can describe our Match in his own words.Good luck in the Final at Pine Ridge, I want to see you hold that Trophy.Thank you for organising the venue & à big thank you to our 2 very pleasant cheerleaders/referees Roger Dickson & John Whitfield .Brigitte

a very enjoyable match with Brigitte this afternoon on the hills, slopes, and more hills of Woldingham Golf Club. I was 1 up at the turn, but 2 down after 11. There followed a few more close holes, before i managed to birdie the par 3 15th to go 2 up, and then par the looooooong par 5 16th to take the match 3&2. Thanks to Roger and John for joining us for a fun afternoon, and to Brigitte for the game.

Awesome! Was it dark when you finished ?Well played both of you ...
A belated reply to Ollie's exemplary summing up of our marathon quarter final on Sunday. Great game - not many go to the 23rd!!
HA! We cancelled ours this morning after signing up on Friday on a 7-day free trial having spent most of Friday evening watching it buffering on my mobile (couldn't work out how to broadcast to our TV) gave up, didn't watch any of the golf at weekend, so who won... certainly not the viewers! What the hell were the USPGA thinking! #Madness
Not Eleven Sports as next to no one will watch, and those that do will discontinue their account as soon as Dominic Holyer runs out of other golf news!

Wow! What a match..... I wonder if Eleven Sports would be interested in broadcasting the TSG Finals Day @ Pine Ridge GC?! #hmmmmWe have our final Four!
A very enjoyable match today against John Loffler. Having got to 4 up after 10 John managed to reel me in, and a wayward wedge shot on the 18th meant we finished all square. So on we went to the 19th hole ... and 20th hole ... and 21st hole ... and 22nd hole ... and finally the 23rd hole where a par from me managed to bring a great game to a win. We both missed chances to win it in sudden death and both holed some great putts to keep the game alive. Thanks to John for the game.
Dave Short beat Brian Scott 1up at royal cinque ports, thanks for the game Brian
Dear TSG MatchPlayers,Apologies for the late posting of the semi-final draw but our minds have been distracted by last weekend TSG OPEN. Sorry but this should have been done a week ago. However, due to a family illness, we have allowed Ollie McCormack and John Loffler til the 15th August to complete their QF tie. In the interest of fairness, Brian Scott and Dave Short are afforded the same extension.Meanwhile, we have now concluded the semi-final draw, drum roll...1. Ollie McCormack or John Loffler Vs Brigitte Lockwood2. Brian Scott or Dave Short Vs Andy KingSo there you have it...Games must be completed by 10th Sept.#goodluckIan & The TSG Team--------------------

Come on Gary a bit more drama ! This was the 'Duel in the sun' - 2 !! Back and forth throughout, neither of us ever more than 2 up. All square on the 18th tee ? The stuff of Legends.Very very enjoyable. Sad it finished with a ball OB on the last tee. Gary playing off 25 makes VERY good use of his shots. He also was playing with a serious injury. Excellent match.Glad Steve came along as well, even though he wasn't happy with his driving. Would love to play with Gary again sometime, as he has a good solid game that can only improve his handicap. Good luck with the knee Gary.
Andy King and I played our match play at Lullingstone Park today with Steve Heywood, it was a glorious sunny day with hard fairways and greens that were a little slow. Below is a brief synopsis of the match.I got offf to a poor start and Andy played well, so found myself 2 down after 5 holes, by the 9th Hole the match was all square. Andy took the next 2 holes(10+11), however at the 13th hole we were back to all square again, by the time we finished the 16th hole I was one up with 2 to play. On the 17th Andy played a great shot and hit the green and made par, i duffed my shot off the T, but nearly chipped in for par when I clattered the flag; Andy won the hole, back to all square. On the 18th I hit another poor shot which caused my t shot to go out of bounds, Andy hit the fairway and closed out the game.Overall it was an enjoyable match and the better player won on the day. I wish Andy all the best for the next round and would like to thank for Steve for completing the loop with us.
Thank you Ron, see you in our Mixed competitions or weekends away.
