very nice course

public for the past ten years, this public course has to be given credit for one thing-they've never stopped looking for ways to improve the course, and the facilities. Very popular for outings, it's a nice course, especially amongst the park district courses, it has some very challenging holes and some very nice scenery. The 18th hole is a bit much, I myself can't count how many doglegs this hole has, but the course does repay good ballstriking and accuracy-it is more narrow than most. The staff is excellent, and it is well worth playing.

classic

One of the best public courses in the Chicago land area. One of the best pieces of land available(along with Thunderhawk and Stonewall Orchard). A bit pricey and sometimes they're too eager to let people play(never to wet to send golfers out). But, absolutely well worth playing. It's a beautiful course, with excellent practise facilities, but not much of a clubhouse-one big room, pro shop on one side, bar on the area. But, the food is good(Johnsonville brats-a staple of Lake County courses) and they have some nice draught beers. A must play in Chicago and vicinity.

very nice

very good public course. Has excellent practise facilities(home of nationally ranked teaching pro Todd Sones) Some of the holes are better than others, #18 I feel is a little too much of a dogleg for the average player(you can tell whose never parred or birdied it). Very nice course, well worth the drive. Good bang for the buck.

too expensive

The golf course is great, but it's not worth what they charge you to play it. This used to be the site of the old glenview naval course which actually was on the southern end of the property. This layout is more toward the northern edge. The practise facilities are great, the clubhouse is a great place to eat and unwind. But, considering what's in the semi-immediate area, the green fees are exorbitant, almost double some of the best public courses in an area with an abundance of outstanding facilities.

not a bad public track

slow play is about the only problem I have with this course. At times, it's glacial, especially around holidays. But, the practise facilities are some of the best anywhere. The course itself has some very interesting and challenging holes. The clubhouse is a 1000% better than the old days and is a nice spot to hang out afterwards. Also, Neal is one of the top teaching pros in the state. Well worth the effort to play it.

highly recommended

I highly recommended this very difficult but interesting course in the NW burbs of Chicago. They have an excellent clubhouse, especially for groups, the fees with cart are very reasonable, but, beware, bring extra balls and don't expect a practise range(nets and putting green only). However, for the price it's an excellent value. Well worth the effort to play it.
