Being new to the area and not knowing where to play, I have tried a few courses recently but have only one I can truly recommend, Dymock.
If you are looking for the lap of luxury in clubhouse facilities then you are in the wrong place. If you are looking for a great round of golf, with friendly and helpful staff that wont break the bank the you have found it.
There are two courses at Dymock the old course, a 9-hole par 36 mature parkland course, and the new course, a 9-hole beginner type par 30. The new course is great fun as a warm up before the main event, the greens are not great and do suffer from a degree of vandalism.
The old course is in tip top condition. Well laid out, challenges on nearly every hole and very, very tight. You need to be straight rather than long here.
Value for money, great golf and a good beer afterwards.
Well worth it.
