Robert Trent Jones designed two courses at Sotogrande, the earlier (opened in1964) remains as Sotogrande and isregularly features in Europe’s top ten courses. The other was developed into Valderrama.
Sotogrande is situated close to the beach next to the River Guadiaro and Sotogrande marina. Thefairways are immaculate and include numerous mature trees of pine, cork, oak palm and eucalyptus. There are also plenty of water hazards and although there is almost no rough thethe lakes, trees and occasionalstrong winds create a challenge for all levels.
There is a recently renovated clubhouse, and driving range.
Sotogrande isa private club but somevisitors are welcome (contact club to make arrangements).
