Carnoustie Golf Links, located on the east coast of Scotland, is one of the most challenging courses in the world and has hosted The Open Championship eight times, most recently in 2018. The Championship Course, known for its tough layout, has a par of 72 and stretches 7,421 yards. Established in 1842, the course is famed for its narrow fairways, deep bunkers, and unpredictable coastal winds. Some of golf’s most dramatic moments have taken place here, including Jean Van de Velde’s infamous collapse in 1999. Padraig Harrington (2007) and Francesco Molinari (2018) are among the Open champions crowned at Carnoustie.
Easily accessible from the A92, Carnoustie is near the city of Dundee, with local landmarks including Glamis Castle and the Angus coastline, making it a must-visit destination for golf enthusiasts.
