DESCRIPTION:

Stilton Oaks Golf Clubis a small, challengingcourseconstructedwith a fairly short front nine (with water hazards to keep it interesting) and a much tougher back nine. The rough is particularly punishing of wayward shots but the superb views offered from the climb to the 10th makes the lost balls seem worthwhile! The general condition of Stilton Oaks is very good all year round and various upgrades and renovations in recent years have certainly helped get the fairways and greens in great condition. Visitors are always welcome.

You Get What You Pay For

I've played Stilton Oaks a few times before but I was surprised to see that it has been changed since my last visit. For starters the original first hole was a pitch-and-putt style 155 yard par 2 - now a 288 yard dog leg left.

Bunkers are non-existent, but there's plenty of water and long grass to loose your balls in (and boy did I loose many this time).

The back 9 is a hilly section and with no buggies around be sure that you don't mind the odd spot of hill climbing.

Yesterday (Saturday) we paid £15 as a visitor for the round. With a portacabin-style clubhouse selling balls, tees, chocolate and drinks and no 19th hole in sight come prepared (You'll a 19th at the Bell Inn in the High Street).

I can't think of anywhere better to spend £15.
