Not the best course in essex

The course could really do with some tlc, a lot of greens in poor condition, and course etiquette is virtually non existant, it is not at the top of my must play again list

Poor condition, despite lockdown.

Greens were OK, had been aerated and the holes hadn't recovered fully. Fairways were so long on many holes the semi rough was nearly as short or shorter than the fairway. Definitely possible to lose your ball on the fairway. Tees weren't too bad but some not very level. Rough very penal, anything off the semi was almost certainly a lost ball! Bunkers have been left to nature since lockdown, I didn't go in one but probably wouldn't even have tried to play out of one. Fairly cheap, but I am sure there are much better kept pay and play courses around!

Poor in all areas

I can't comment on the clubhouse as it was closed. Staff were very helpful and friendly.

Sadly the tee's and greens were awful with lots of rubbish around the course.

£10 for the twilight but the £10 in balls you will lose due to rolling off the fairway by even just a foot would bean the first cut of rough will swallow your ball.

Won't be returning, much better options around.

high/mid handicap player

Castle Point Links Course is a 5902 yard’s off the yellows, par 71 public course. The course is for the high/mid handicap player. The 1st 9 is the easier part the 2nd 9 is more like a links course. The Greens are puttable, but some are a bit poor. Sadly no practise nets or putting green just an open field with thick grass, also no racks in the bunkers. There is a driving range.

Outstanding value

Now owned and run as part of a group, its council origins are still evident, but don't let that put you off.
Yes it's a little different being criss crossed with a few foot paths and some of the bunkers could have a little tlc spent on them. Offset these and a few other very minor points against a well layed out course with a good mix of holes, enough hazards to make you think often and fairly quick greens in good condition.
Also being on the coast the wind comes into play, a gentle breeze when we started turned onto a 2 club wind.
We payed only £6 each with a special deal from an online tee booking service which is fantastic value, compared to £22 each for the normal green fee on Sunday mornings.
I don't expect Castle Point to be overrun with TSG bookings as a result of this, but if you're in the area and fancy a game and can get a good tee time deal, you could do a lot worse.
Overall an enjoyable round on a course i will be playing again.
