Essex top 10 for me

Enjoyed my return to this course, played it years ago and its pretty cool. A little quirky as there are a few holes that cross over, but that does not diminish the experience. Need to plan your way around, mature trees, good fairways and the greens were pretty good.

Well worth a visit

Had a good bacon roll & coffee to start and a nice pie & chips for lunch super job... The course front 9 is superb tricky fairways tight greens and in good condition, but for me the back 9 is a bit boring and could do with a few more hazards.. Also some slow play ahead of us caused a backup behind so perhaps needs some stewards out to gee the guys up!
But overall VFM!!

Cracking layout

Lovely tree lined course,. Some cracking holes, a few unusual crossovers where you tee off over the green you have just played. But the greens were very poor had some bare patches all over we got a post 1pm deal which finishes at the end of the month. I love the layout but for £40 I'd go elsewhere until the greens come back

What a Front 9!!

The front 9 of this course is one, if not the, best in Essex. The back 9 is in need of some work/TLC which the club advise is on-going, hence I have not given 5 stars. The front nine is worthy of 6! If it is to the same standard as the front 9, this will be some course. Can't wait to go back and see the work and some reasonable green fees about if you ask at the right times. Clubhouse is lovely and nice to hear some friendly voices from the bar staff. If you can you should, but don't tell too many people, wouldn't want to ruin it!

Course of 2 halves with cross over holes

Mature tree line parkland course with a lovely backdrop.
The 1st 9 has undulating fairways (some hilly) with some holes guarded by water & fairway bunkers.
The 2nd 9 more flatter with fairway bunkers, were you can pick up your points?
There are 5 cross over holes, which can make you feel a bit uneasy on the tees & fairways?
If you can go with somebody who has played the course before, because you require course management.
Greens a bit slow, bunkers had hard sand. Some tee boxes were not flat. But they are doing a lot of work on the course so some part of the course not at it best.
Club house & pro shop had friendly staff, with a large practise area/bunker, putting green, driving nets.
This is a club I would become a member.
Would recommend any golfer to have a round. You would not be disappointed because of the 1st9.
