Lovely Parkland Course

Although the course is fairly short, 5478 yards from the yellows, it is far trickier than you might first think. The frequently tree lined fairways aren't the widest, but there's a good mix of holes, and quite a few of them where there are opportunities to drop shots. Water, ditches and bunkers play a part on most holes.

The greens aren't huge, but they were in a very decent condition, and with the recent hot/dry weather it made finding them a little awkward.

The clubhouse is on the smaller side, but it is very friendly and the food was good, and the welcome there and in the proshop was very pleasant.

I certainly intend going back again soon!

Very disappointing

I was really looking forward to playing the Blacknest. the course has everything and is very tight.
But all the money has been invested in the club house. The course was tired unkept. The bunkers were down to their liners with unraked sand.
The greens were simply dreadful, scurified but unbrushed. some were covered in tree debris.
My game suffered due to the condition. the greens were rock hard nothing held.
I stayed over night in Alton at a very nice guest house the scenary is stunning in this area, but try a different course!

Fair course ideal for those still trying to master the game

Blacknest golf course is very good value for money. The fairways are suffering due the hot weather and the greens are a little bumpy. During the week around twelve it appears to be very quite, ideal for people like myself still learning the game. Some good offers during the week.

BLACKNEST GC

An attractive and interesting parkland course. We played off the White Tees which makes it more of a challenge from the relatively short Yellows. Plenty of water in play. Bunkers in poor condition, indeed quite a few of them are being filled in which is a shame. Greens had been hollow tined but looked decent. Driving range on site. Excellent deals available.
