Good course

Pleasant surprise here , lived locally for many years but never played it. Course was in good condition , quick greens but well kept , some long holes but none too tough . We were warned the welcome from members would not be too warm and it wasn't ! Did meet some friendly lady members . Not cheap so would play elsewhere where we are more welcome !

Excellent course, people and facilities

This is my home club, so I will be a bit biased, but Mid Kent is a deceiving layout, looking much easier than it plays! A beautiful parkland-style course, it is a little haven set on hte edge of busy Gravesend. At the right time of year, you can stop at the 6th Tee and pick a few cherries to keep you going!
The course is a little quirky, starting with a Par-3 and having 10-out and 8-back!
The greens are always in excellent condition and the staff and members always helpful

Course is in great condition and greens can catch you out

The course is well located and parking no problem and right next to the clubhouse. I played this course for the first time in April in a league match and loved it, so I was delighted to receive an invitation to play again. Clubhouse and hospitality excellent. Ladies changing room lovely. The 1st is a short, but testing Par 3 ..... and so I will need to come back again to try and make the green. The layout of the course is strategic and it really makes you think. I loved the greens.....not because I could read all of them, but because they are challenging, which always makes for good golf. It definitely helps to have a member show you the way and my host, Steve was very helpful and I managed to do as I was told and as a result, made some lovely scores. He insisted I need to mention my birdie at 9 and that I won the 10 hole match so it would be rude not to. There a few Par 3s, but they are all very different and challenging. This is a great course and I am looking forward to playing there again.

Old fashion but friendly......

Played here as part of Golf Against Cancer month. Despite the course having some overly strict clothing rules(I dont like being told off about my dress code when I am not even playing!)I was very impressed by how friendly the members made us! The course is a parkland layout with some really nice holes and the greens are exceptional - well done the green keepers! The office and bar staff were friendly too and the day was a great way to start Trevor's tour - would go back!

A lovely little course with very friendly staff & members

Played here based on reading the reviews of other TSG Members and I wasn't disappointed.
The clubhouse is nice and the staff very friendly (and food good quality and excellent value).
£30 for a visitor mid-week which isn't bad.
They don't operate a tee time system so it's a queue up and wait your turn system but as we were waiting another two-ball (members) asked us if we wanted to join them so we got straight to the front of the queue...
The first is a Par 3 with OOB all down the left (a road!) so not an easy start but the course was nicely laid out, had lots of interesting holes and was generally very well maintained. But the best bit is the greens, full credit to the ground staff they were excellet (and apparently always are).
So, if you're in the area pop along, I don't think you'll regret it

Beautifully presented challenge

I played Mid Kent yesterday in the Royal Blackheath Trophy (http://www.royalblackheath.com/index.lasso?pg=eb1a951ebf27e3cf&v=1&mp=0e89270d41734a96&catid=d4a61c9a1b3af889&mpd=40208e9e64f214af) representing my club Wrotham Heath. It was my second visit of the week as they kindly allowed us a courtesy round off the whites on Monday and I'm glad we came!

First thing to mention is the warm and friendly welcome and really nice clubhouse facilities. Apparently Mid Kent has non golf members which I think speaks volumes of the social facilities and atmosphere. The practice green is very nice and representative of the greens on the course. The range is also really nice with both artificial mats and nicely kept grass areas to hit from. Although not long enough for drivers there are plenty of flag sticks out to really get a feel for precise distances. The range is not covered so perhaps less favourable on a wet day.

The course itself is extremely well maintained and cleverly thought out and every hole gives you something to think about. During my match my opponent told me that the club had to pay a good price to get the head green keeper there but it was very well worth it and I would have to agree. A comprehensive irrigation system ensures that all the fairways are lush and green and a pleasure to play from. I hear the rough gets longer towards club championship time but it is already punishing (as it should be). There are a lot of blind shots so it’s well worth getting a course planner or better still going round with someone who knows the way! The greens were hollow tined just 2 weeks before we played but you would hardly notice, they were very consistent and receptive and the ball rolled very smoothly and true.

If I had a criticism it would be that some of the tees seem quite close to the previous green (though some people prefer that to a half mile hike!) That is merely a symptom of the fact that they really have maximised on the space available to great effect.

I would really recommend a trip to Mid Kent and the food is superb too!

mid kent

An interesting course plenty of room for those of us that don't always hit the ball straight. No water on the whole course. Greens were the best i've ever played on.(and considering the weather we've had recently i can only imagine that they must be brilliant in the summer.)
