Well established tree lined, undulating course

Unless you know how to find the course you might get a bit lost travelling through Kent county lanes, some single track. A fair amount of diversions had me driving in big circles.

Joined the se swing guys, parking ok, breakfast ok, course condition a bit greener than I was recently used to. Sand in bunkers too. A very blustery day and quite a tricky course. All change since the last occasion I played, the back is now the front and the front is now the back.

Played the same ball all around but didn't score well.

Staff were welcoming and good fun. Kitchen does close early afternoon.

Worth a trip if you can navigate the country lanes.

Hidden gem, in rural Kent

I Would not like to try and find this course without a Sat Nav, talk about hidden. Coming up the drive you are hit with how the course is imbedded within the landscape. Very much like West Kent.
I could not fault the staffs hospitality...but loud music from external speakers swirled around the valley. I’ve never attended a golf club that plays music externally like this. More like a concert venue than a golf club. This was not just in the morning but all day! You could hear the club house 3 Fairways away.

The course is exceptional but far from easy even with the dry weather. The temperature reached 37 degrees this Friday which ruined the day really. I felt quite unwell after 14 holes but soldiered on to complete the round.

Buggy’s are a must here on a hot day, the walkers with me that day really struggled. Very few flat holes, very undulating. The greens are the same tough, some very fast some slow.

It’s a very good test for most standards of golfer. I’d like to play it when it’s a bit more lush and the greens can hold a ball.

All in all a very picturesque course with some very interesting holes.

The food a BBQ was very good, everything was set up outside, the Pro shop, food etc due to Covid 19.

Would I play it again, yes very much so...but on a much cooler day!

Played it few years ago

Not easy to get to ! Excellent clubhouse , friendly staff , nice course overall .
Like many private courses not very well signed from green to next tee ! Please note , three experienced golfers coming off greens and wandering about like fools looking which way to go !
Fast greens in good condition , some tees very poor condition !

Lives up to its name...

I've been keen to play Redlibbets for some time and whilst the Autumn is not always the best time to a review a course..... in this case, it was the perfect time!

Tucked away in the Kent countryside, the approach to the clubhouse meanders through the course to the spacious car park. Still relatively new (Est. in 90's) the clubhouse is big and airy and gives you superb views of the course.

The first hole is a relatively short Par 4 but as a blind shot it is still a test. The course then snakes through rich and varied woodland with no two holes the same. The course is a combination of some testing Par 3's and well designed Par 4's. The course loops back to the clubhouse before heading out again in the opposite direction, meaning no two views of the course are ever the same.

And despite the damp conditions all the greens were lightening quick. In fact, many of the greens are small and require some accuracy to score well, so practice your chipping before starting

However, the real delight of this course its is panoramic views around the valley and the brilliant red and oranges trees that flank each and every fairway. At this team of year, they are a truly spectacular sight, that (at times) will suggest you could be in Canada or the Rocky mountains.

Coupled with the warm and generous welcome at the bar (a smile goes a long way!), and with the members (and Mens' Captain) keen to chat and welcome us, many clubs could learn from this approach.

The Pro-shop was equally welcoming and well stocked and with some great offers to match any online store, this is a club I will certainly be returning to.

The only negative to the day was the onslaught of some heavy rain that meant we missed the last three holes but having walked them to reach the clubhouse, I have no doubt they would only add to your enjoyment.

Give this club a try, you won't be disappointed!

odd 3rd hole??

Nice course. Bloody hilly but no water hazards apart from the 18th.
The greens were a little bit bumpy in places. Plenty of bunkers to contend with. There are more trees than I have ever seen on a golf course but the layout is well designed. The fairways are quite narrow and you have to be pretty straight to get round.
Would play again.

Worth a round

I really liked this course even though I had an absolute mare going round it. There are more trees than I have ever seen on a golf course but the layout is great. The fairways are quite narrow and you have to be pretty straight to get round. The greens were a little bit bumpy in places but I put this down to the club getting them ready for the new season. They are fast and very undulating.

I used the Green Free vouchers and so we only paid £22.50 each which I think is good value, I don't think I would pay £45 full price to go round it though. Get the vouchers and go and have a round.

I stopped in the clubhouse afterwards and grabbed a sausage and egg baguette which was very nice and reasonable price too. They had a fairly good selection on the menu to choose from.

All in all I enjoyed the round, apart from the score, and I will be going back.

Very nice course, bit pricey

Good longish course, some tight fairways, big greens that you need to be a better putter than me to take advantage of, which should be all of you! Would only play with money off voucher as 45 quid mid week is to much.

Well recommended club

I used to be a member at Red Libbets so I've played it many times. I can understand what some other reviewers said about the greens but that problem has been addressed by completely rebuilding two of them and adding better drainage to some others which were suffering.

The club is friendly and the course is a great woodland/parkland challenge - starting with a forced drive across a large pond to a fairway which is narrow and slopes right to left draining shots away into the woods. The course then winds it's way along the valley with tight tree lined fairways always causing a problem with the drive.

Set out in two loops of nine the course is (now) well maintained and a good challenge, the lovely views are a bonus.

The course is also pretty cheap to play (using the Open Fairways card means you can play it for £20). So get doen there and see for yourself.

Good course

I enjoyed playing here. Tee-shots have to be very accurate in places to avoid the tree lined fairways. There is some interesting holes with a excellent par 3 17th.

Looking forwards to playing again

Had heard mixed reviews of Redlibbets but I was very impressed with both the course and the facilities. Most courses have been playing very hard with the lack of rain we've had but the fairways were lovely to play from (or at least the ones I managed to find!)

The course design maximises on the natural contours of the land giving players plenty to think about. Every hole is well thought out making the most of the mature trees, bushes and the natural features and using well positioned bunkers to produce a fantastic balance of challenges and achievable good scoring for the average club golfer.

If you can get a 2-4-1 offer or some sort of deal then it makes excellent value for money - well worth a visit.

A lovely course let down by the greens

I've played Redlibbets on many occasions (never had a good score there because of the special 'tree magnet' balls I use, must change them for another make). The course layout is great, resonably undulating, lots of room between fairways, mature trees, lots of wildlife (even a nudist camp adjoining the 12th fairway!). The only criticism would be the quality of the greens, it seems that they struggle to keep them in good shape so that at least one or two (and sometimes more) are in poor condition. A shame because it's a friendly club and the rest of the course is great.
