Wrotham Heath Golf Club

Played in an individual stableford golf day hosted by this golf club. They where having a week long festival of golf and this day was part of it so the green fee was only £36.00 which included tea / coffee and breakfast bap before the round and the 18 holes of golf. I believe it is normally around £50/60 per round on its own.

A great course and a pleasure to play. Would love to go back and play it again as I think you need to play it twice to get the best out of it. Some cracking par 3 holes which are a real test.

I highly recommend playing this course if you get the chance.

Wrotham has 12 holes would not be out of place on any of the Surrey heathland courses. Those holes wind their way through woodlands with heather stealing any wayward balls. Holes 3 - 7 are a particularly memorable stretch of holes. 3 - A par 5 where anything left or right of the fairway falls down some 30 foot to the woddlands below before the approach shot to the green which is set a further 50 foot below the fairway. 4 - A short dog leg right stroke index 1 with a very intimidating tee shot. 5 - A par 3 along a valley with heather gripping to the banks either side of the green. 6 - a short dog leg left with a blind drive over the brow of a hill. 7 - a long 190 yard par 3 from a raised tee to a raised green, with a bunker catching anything slightly short and a green wider than it is deep to aim at.
Holes 13-18 have a more parkland feel with very little heather or trouble to catch a wayward shot, however every hole has its own attraction, whether it’s a dog leg (13&16), reachable with a driver (13 &18) or a very raised green (16).
We played using a voucher so cannot comment on value for money, however this is a course that I would be happy to pay £45-£50 to play.
The clubhouse and pro shop are very very small and have a somewhat odd layout, but the staff were very friendly and welcoming.
This was my second visit to Wrotham having visited several years back. I was not a fan of the course then and found it very bland, however my opinion of the course today has been completely reversed!! I would highly recommend a visit to this course and I will not be leaving it a couple more years to return!

I left Tudor Park in Maidstone to join at Wrotham Heath for two simple reasons; the course is fantastic and the members are extremely friendly and welcoming.

The course is relatively short but very challenging and demands that every shot is well thought out hence local knowledge is almost essential for a reasonable card.

I think the only negative point is that some fairways are naturally cambered so sometimes even well placed, conservative shots get thrown into the trees and bracken.

There is always plenty going on for members and a busy social calendar with weekly swindles and plenty of competitions.

This is a great heathland course which (ecept for the holes around the clubhouse) winds it's way along, down and up through wooded valleys so you get a great mix of holes which are often separated by heavy wood meaning you don't see too many other golfers and you get the added bonus of some loveley views across to the North Downs. But... some of the fairways are tight and flanked by fern & woods plus there are several dog-leg holes so it is a course for those who, largely, play positional golf (ie leave the driver in the boot of the car unless) and even then it's defintely a course you need to play a few times before you know where to place your shot! (a guy in the bar summed it up when he said they don't often lose inter-club matches at home because there is a requirement for so much local knowledge). So, in summary, a great course, interesting to play, well maintained, clubhouse friendly, but, practice facilities not great and, at £40, it's not cheap (£30 with a County Card which is the only discount offered).
