DESCRIPTION:

Rye Hill Golf Club, located near Banbury, is a stunning 18-hole, par 72 championship course set within 200 acres of rolling Oxfordshire countryside. Opened in 1994, the course is known for its wide fairways, strategically placed water hazards, and large, undulating greens, providing a challenge for golfers of all abilities. The signature hole, the par-5 12th, requires a long drive and a well-placed second shot to avoid the water hazard that guards the green.

Rye Hill is located near the M40 and is easily accessible from Oxford and the Midlands. The surrounding area offers plenty of historical attractions, including Broughton Castle and the Cotswolds. The club’s modern clubhouse, complete with a spacious terrace overlooking the course, provides a perfect setting for relaxation after a round.

OK, but......

I'd have to agree with what Olly has said about the course EXCEPT the first paragraph.

The young guy taking payments in the morning was really friendly and helpful, but the older fella who was on at the end of our round needs a major lesson in customer care. Only way to get a coffee (we found out) is to stand at the window in the pouring rain whilst he sorts them out for you - that was after as good as being told to get out of the shop, as no one is allowed in there. Covid-19 has effected the way we all have to interact, but that level is ridiculous.

Go for the golf, don't go for the sparkling personalities!!

Great Course

Recently re-opened after having gone into administration, this course is well worth a visit. Beautiful clubhouse with a warm welcome from the pro in the shop. Grass practise range and decent sized putting green available.

The course is fantastic - carpet-like fairways, greens fast and true, bunkers in great condition, and the natural (hilly) terrain used brilliantly resulting in no boring / unimaginative holes.

Could maybe do with another par 3 to break up the par 4's (and generally long par 4's) but apart from that this is a great course.
