Ashford Manor Golf Club

Ashford Manor GC is a parkland style course in Ashford, Middlesex.

The course is a par 70 for men and par 73 for the ladies. The SSS's are 71 & 69 respectively. The course is 6,406 & 6,093 yards respectively off the white & yellow tees. There are 4 par 3s, 12 par 4s and 2 par 5s.

This is an easy walking course. While the course fairways are reasonably generous, the course is heavily tree lined and any offline shots will badly impact the possibility of good scoring, eg blocking out direct access to the greens!

There are some challenging fairway bunkers to avoid and most of the greens are guarded by deep bunkers!

The greens are generally large and undulating, with depth perception difficult!

The 4 par 3s are an enjoyably difficult challenge; particularly the 234 yard 12th (a par 4 for the ladies). Also 3 of the par 4s, ie the 7th, 10th & 17th, (indexes 1, 6 & 4 respectively), are well in excess of 400 yards therefore long for the average handicapper.

Played at the end of February 2019 in dry sunny conditions, the fairways were very patchy/bumpy reflecting the impacts of a very wet winter. Hopefully conditions will greatly improve once temperatures rise for grass growth and the greenkeeping staff can get to focus their work on the fairways!

There is a good sized pro-shop and a lovely clubhouse. The men's locker room/facilities were excellent!

As a visitor, and one acquainted with a club member; a real disappointment about the course was the lack of on-course signage. It wasn't always evident where the next tees were when exiting some greens. The absence of a course planner and more importantly hole layout mapping on tee boxes compounds this negative image! The impression received is that the course is being managed as though the members will know their way around the course and that's OK! More and more the needs of visitors are becoming critical to the economic well-being /survival of golf clubs. This is surely an easily remedied issue!

While not at the level of being a 'must play' category course it is nevertheless very enjoyable.

A flat course with no real defining holes that stand out but it has 2 long holes a par 4 of 470 yds off the whites and a par 3 of 240 yds.
The greens were good even with the frost on them, the tee boxes were excellent and you could define the fairway and rough. It looks as if it would be a pretty course to play in the summer with all the trees out.
It is a fair course long but if you are straight you can score well. A bit of road noise on a couple of holes.
Nice club house with lots of tradition which is nice to see.
Would I play here again yes I would.

Very enjoyable course although was told by the member i played with that fairways have been in better condition, greens in good condtion, although a flat course there were plenty of enjoyable holes.
